3. No matter how
bad things are for you they are always worse for someone else. Do your best to help those that need it and do not hesitate to accept a helping hand if offered. Be your best and help others to be their best. We are all in this together.

5. Reader's Digest version:
This will be overbroad and oversimplified. We are immortal, indestructible beings. We came here and were intrigued by the earth-life system. But to participate, we have to agree to forget what we are, leaving us vulnerable to the mistaken belief that this physical life is all we get. Through a series of life experiences, we eventually graduate from the earth-life system and go on to bigger and better things.

13. Agreed.
Definitely read Michael Newton's books: Destiny of the Souls and Journey of the Souls.

Here's my admittedly limited understanding: The universe is constantly producing (giving birth so to speak) to new (baby) souls. They go through MANY lifetimes on Earth or other planets or dimensions with lessons to learn in each lifetime. The lessons are agreed upon beforehand and the soul develops more with each life. Eventually, it no longer needs to reincarnate and continues it's work from the spiritual plane.

So, I think with some meditation and introspection, you might be able to determine what your mission is this time around.

Good luck.

20. I am going to have to buy his books.
I just read a few pages at Amazon and I'm hooked. Another author who ties in to this way of thinking is Robert Monroe. His first book, Journeys Out of the Body, is not in this vein, but his second book, Far Journeys, and his third book, Ultimate Journey, are both related to this viewpoint.

I also found a book by by Brian L. Weiss, Many Lives, Many Masters, that sounds very similar to Dr. Newton's.

Thanks for the heads up!

25. I'm working my way through Monroe's three "journey" books.
His out-of-body experiences are really interesting to read about. Unfortunately, his writing style puts me to sleep...literally. Since I have insomnia he's done wonders for me :) :).

10. to find out who you really are
And when you do, and you truly know it, you understand the balance between the Real and the Perceived. I've only had glimpses of the Real; God willing, I will have more.

12. Well...it goes a li'l something like THIS..........

Just remember that you're standing on a planet that's evolving
And reolving at nine thousand miles an hour.
It's orbiting at nineteen miles a second, so it's reckoned,
The sun that is the source of all our power.
Now the sun, and you and me, and all the stars that we can see,
Are moving at a million miles a day,
In the outer spiral arm, at fourteen thousand miles an hour,
Of a galaxy we call the Milky Way.

Our galaxy itself contains a hundred million stars;
It's a hundred thousand light-years side to side;
It bulges in the middle sixteen thousand light-years thick,
But out by us it's just three thousand light-years wide.
We're thirty thousand light-years from Galactic Central Point,
We go 'round every two hundred million years;
And our galaxy itself is one of millions of billions
In this amazing and expanding universe.

Our universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding,
In all of the directions it can whiz;
As fast as it can go, that's the speed of light, you know,
Twelve million miles a minute and that's the fastest speed there is.
So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure,
How amazingly unlikely is your birth;
And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere out in space,
'Cause there's bugger all down here on Earth!

21. The meaning of life is enjoying the passage of time.
I honestly think this is true, not just a line from a song. Time goes by so quickly, I think, in part because we are always willing it to be quitting time or willing it to be the weekend or willing time to go more quickly so that broken heart will heal. Okay, maybe it's just too damned hard to enjoy the passage of time with a broken heart, but you get the picture.

22. There isn't any,
Edited on Sat May-28-05 11:00 PM by necso
at least in the sense of there existing some supernatural being to give life (some supernatural) meaning.

But if one still insists on putting meaning to life, one can turn to the patterns of the world around him and distill something of a meaning from there. And so (skipping the foundation and the arguments) man is a gardener -- and a creature that should give body to the highest natural laws (such as acting for the benefit of the "pack" -- and the larger world). (Of course, all this must be done in essential balance with self preservation, etc.)
