R.I.P., Max, 5/27/2005
I was leaving for school this morning when I noticed I had not taken my allergy meds. I went into the dinning room with my coffee, in order to take my meds (they were on the table) and I saw my kitty Max on the ground. He looked kinda odd to me, so I walked over.

Max had died suddenly. My father had watched it happen and hadn't told me- wanting me to go to school, he thought he would tell me later. Max was such a sweet kitty, he was our youngest, and he was my best friend. We took him to the vet, but we won't know what happened for a while- if we ever do find out. I spent over 2 hours crying already (7:30-10) and when we got back from the vet I went to chill with some friends (college kids) to get my mind off of Max.

I've just gotten home and I'm back to feeling like shit. My comfort comes from knowing that, if there is something better after death, Max is there.

I felt the same way when my dog (whom I'd grown up with, practically) had to be put down. :pals:

in a better place - I know I don't want to go anywhere where my pets are not -

12. I'm so sorry ...
I like the name "Max" -- a friend had a cat with the same name and he was a sweetheart, too. He is definitely in a better place now, though.

13. im so sorry
A friend of mine lost a cat recently under similar circumstances. The vet did an autopsy and found that it was a brain hemmhorage from a weak blood vessil.

Sometimes these things happen but it doesn't seem to ease the pain.

17. My condolences
Losing a pet can be devastating. My pet rabbit died in March of 2001, and I still cry about it once in a while.

24. UPDATE: cause of death found.
Max had congestive heart failure. There would have been no way to treat it, and there were no heart murmurs or pains- so we wouldn't have known anyway. He did die peacefully, and he was spared pain. We did for him all that could be asked- saved him from a life outside, gave him a warm and loving home, gave him plenty of love, care, food and brushed him when he needed it.

I'm glad that I knew him and had a chance to be his human buddy. Thank you, all of you, who have posted here.
