NAILS BAIL: Nine Inch Nails have pulled out of the MTV Movie Awards following Trent Reznor’s refusal to modify his politically charged stage set. “Nine Inch Nails will not be performing at the MTV Movie Awards as previously announced,” Reznor wrote late Thursday on his website. “We were set to perform ‘The Hand That Feeds’ with an unmolested straightforward image of George W. Bush as the backdrop. Apparently the image of our President is as offensive to MTV as it is to me. See you on tour this fall when we return to play in America.” Reznor’s pullout leaves MTV with a big hole to fill and very little time to fill it—the show tapes next Saturday (6/4)—and the Foo Fighters are at the top of the short list to replace NIN, according to a source close to the situation. Stay tuned. (5/27a)
Way to go, Trent!
