How many of you have "black sky with stars?"
Edited on Thu May-26-05 09:01 PM by KoKo01
where you are? Or, do you have that "opaque white background" from the lights of your city or huge shopping mall obscuring your night sphere?

I'm on vacation down in the heart of DLC Founding Country...Hilton Head Island, SC...and the sky is black and you can see EVERY STAR/PLANET...if you have a trusty "Stargazer Map."

Amazing...where I live...we don't see much in our sky around our planet because of the "City Lights."

Where you live do you still gaze out on "black night?"

1. Suburbs
In the suburbs where I live we still have a fairly decent night sky, especially if I sit out on our back porch. It still can't compare to the sky when I'm camping. The world looks so beautiful when illuminated by moonlight and starlight alone.

2. Nah.
Lots of light pollution here.

My mom's place in NH has really dark, clear nights, but the greatest view of the stars I've ever seen was in Idaho. It was astonishing--the Milky Way cut a swath through the night sky. We stood out there for hours.

5. Central Oregon at the 7,000 ft level. The Milky Way looked like a galaxy
in outer space. Absolutely magnificent.

4. Stars but no Milky Way.
Suburban Louisville Kentucky (actually in southern Indiana just across the Ohio River). Local amateur astronomers have to drive an hour to the west to get a really good night sky.
