Spectators cheered as entire Cambodian Midget Fighting League squared off against African Lion

This campaign is believed to be what sparked the undisclosed fan to challenge the entire league to fight a lion; a challenge that Sihamoni readily accepted.

The Cambodian Government allowed the fight to take place, under the condition that they receive a 50% commission on each ticket sold, and that no cameras would be allowed in the arena.

The fight was called in only 12 minutes, after which 28 fighters were declared dead, while the other 14 suffered severe injuries including broken bones and lost limbs, rendering them unable to fight back.

Sihamoni was quoted before the fight stating that he felt since his fighters out-numbered the lion 42 to 1, that they “… could out-wit and out-muscle .”

Unfortunately, he was wrong.

1. Holy shit!

I say that for two reasons...1) 42 midgets were fighting a lion and many were killed and 2) my uncle (someone who loves to make up stories) told me about this on Saturday. I thought he was full of shit...I guess not

It seems so believable, imagining 42 people in a ring with a lion.

Kind of like the most watched nation in the world developing nuclear weapons while under complete economic embargo. The things that slip through.

That is like something out of the days of Caligula. Phillip Short's bio of Pol Pot argues that there's something inherently fatalistic in Cambodian culture (namely Theravada Buddhism) to explain the Khmer Rouge. Maybe it explains this bizarre story as well.

Even if you rounded them *all* up, you wouldn't have enough for a league. And when you remove the names of people not willing to be chewed on by a lion, I doubt you could form so much as a Cambodian Midget Fighting Duo. Hehe.
