My son just had SIX wisdom teeth removed. He's a mutant with an extra two!
And he is now one hurtin puppy! Poor kid! His mouth is packed with gauze and just took one hit of "Hillbilly Heroin", Rush's choice.
He's a big 19 year old but his nurse daddy will be here to take care of the 6'3", 275 lb, ex- offensive lineman.

Poor Baby!

6. He's bleeding and its throbbing! I made him lie down with his head ...
propped up. It still hurts when my babies are hurting.

4. Oh man that sucks large
I lucked out because I only had two. Take good care of him, and don't let him run around too soon, it'll slow down the healing process.

7. That sounds horrible.
I lucked out with my wisdom teeth. They came in straight and I had enough space between some of my other teeth so that the wisdom teeth had room to come in and close those gaps.

9. Hi maveric,
Edited on Tue May-24-05 04:41 PM by CaliforniaPeggy
I feel for your son...the next day or so won't be fun. Try some crushed ice also, on his face, every few hours for about 15-20 minutes at a time. This will help the pain go away also, as well as control the bleeding. I doubt he'll want to eat much, but perhaps his oral surgeon had some thoughts on those lines. At least he won't have to go through it again.

Good thing you're there for him...And in a few weeks, he gets to return the favor, and be there for you!

10. Thanks Peggy! I've allready ice-packed him.
He's still loopy from the anesthesia and when that wears off he'll feel it more. I'll take good care of him.

12. I know you will!
You are a truly good dad...I was just in "nurse" mode, and was carrying on that way...I do forget other people know what I know...

I still get upset when my daughters have any kind of problem, and they are in their 30's now. You just NEVER stop being a parent!

23. Evidently, the sockets can become dry and it's extremely painful...
One of mine became "dry" and it took several extra days for the pain to wane...:(

22. Hey! I have five and I am keeping all of them. Four are where they
should be and cause me NO problems. The fifth one is behind another wisdom tooth completely buried in my jaw and going nowhere. Not bothering me, I didn't even know I had it until it showed up on one of those 180 degree xrays about 10 years ago. The dentist started talking about me having it removed but noted it was a little close to a facial nerve - HA! that's all I needed to hear. The last thing I need is for some bumbling oral surgeon to cut a facial nerve and then I have to run around with the bottom half of my face sagging like an old whore's tits.
