Does anyone draw or write their own comics?
If so, what equipment, books, etc do you recommend?

I'd like to do it on one of those fancy "Wapo" pads- are they worth it? Are they easy to use? I used to do them all by hand.

I'd like to get back into my old hobby in a big way b/c it will help me CHILL OUT.

Any suggestions or comments on your own work/hobbies?

Doc

1. I write games
no really, have now gone commercial...

Now if you want to go back to drawing, may I recomend a digital tablet? They are a tad pricey but boy they are great.

There are some good free proggies out there, and Corel Painter, if you really want to go hog wash IS an extremely good program

3. What brand of digital pad is best for a beginer?
And are these programs fairly easy to load & operate?

I've heard the "wapo" pad is the one to get.

I'm not so patient with the 'puters- as I said, I used to do ALL the inking, lettering coloring etc by hand- but I think the pad is the way to go.

What do you like to draw?

4. Thanks. The Bloody Marys can only do so much.
I need new ways to chill-out in this messed up world- like reverting back to childhood but in a slightly productive manner!!!

6. pen and ink, scan, color with paintshop or other art programs
i got photoshop which is way too expensive, paintshop is much cheaper.

after erasing pencil sketch lines, sharpen the inked scan, drop colors in with the paint bucket tool. that's basically how i make toons. but i also manipulate photos a lot, with photoshop.

scanners are about 100 bucks. i think you can purchase paintshop and download it. it's pretty cheap

10. I'm going to get a Wacom pad, I do believe.
I've seen some examples of the possibilities online- so I think I'm going to seek out a used one.
