39. I saw it, too, on the first night of my third vision quest
Edited on Tue May-24-05 08:55 PM by SpiralHawk
I have gone up on the mountain fasting 12 different times now, and will go again when needed. I have seen many things come and go. One night, my third time out, the kundalini fire came. Of this, I can say no more. But as with DrDebug, I found it to be powerful, fierce, and benevolent -- the very Fire of Life, a shining aspect of the Whole (what in traditional language would be called Gitchee Manitou -- not a person in the sky, but a force that lives and weaves in everything, from the leaves and the people to the sea and the stars.

And a UFO once. It looked like a big cigar hovering over a neighbor's house. I must have been hallucinating, though.

I also saw The Green Flash once -- that was wild.

11. When I was in 5th grade I dreamed I was pregnant and my mom died...
It really upset me, I was so relieved when my niece was born (I was 18 at the time), so my mom could be a grandmother.

My mom died when I was 8 months pregnant with my only child (I was 33 at the time).

Freaky.

Edited on Tue May-24-05 08:06 PM by thecai
I've seen a person possessed, (months before The Exorcist was released in theaters), ufo's, ghosts (spirits or demons), I've seen injustice and corruption that was truly unbelievable, (and they get away with it), I've heard things announced on tv and radio before it was announced on tv or radio, numerous dreams have come true, I can tell if someone has died in a house, I see demonic faces in certain evil or corrupt people, and lots more, too much to mention...

72. You Really Want To Know?
I've said it since day one, before I ever had any idea of what they were capable of...
In Smirk (and his mother) I see reptiles, even though I don't believe in "reptillian species", they could be living proof there is. The rest just have demons (from what I can see).
The other accounts of what I've seen and witnessed could fill a book or two. I'd love to share but I wouldn't know where to begin. There are some things I won't tell anyone, for a variety of reasons.

a person posessed (sometimes I wonder with junior Bush) and UFO'S. I remember for a long time I would say "I wish this would happen" and not long after I say it then it would come true. That was weird. I also remember for a while I would have a song stuck in my head out of nowhere and it'd come up on the cd or the radio. ;) I've had dejavu here and there lately too. When it comes it's very big. And does the republican count on tv or a movie (Ron Paul from Texas)?

65. I remember seeing my double
That was weird. It was at a football game and I was in the band. It was a home game and we were waiting to go onto the field. While we were waiting some guys on the other team started talking to me (they were helpers) just casually. I wasn't used to guys talking to me but surprisingly talked back pretty well with them. After some small talk they told how there was a girl at their school who looked exactly like me. I thought that was really weird. Then I looked out on the field and a girl who was playing a clarinet looked like me (face and hair and stuff). There were a few things different with us and I played the flute.

82. I survived the 1947 Texas City disaster as a small child...
It disintegrated our house with us in it. The one I helped extinguish in the 1970s was nowhere near as big, but it "disappeared" about two-thirds of a huge oil refinery, including eight or ten million gallon liquified petroleum gas tanks. It was very impressive from close up!

17. I was drawn to stop at an old cemetery while out riding with my friend
Edited on Tue May-24-05 04:08 PM by vickiss
I had never been to it, for some reason. I started walking and came up behind a stone, drawn there? When I went to the front the birth date was MY birth date (day, not year) and the first name "Lemuel". Next I was started walking and not 1 minute later saw 2 stones, one was leaning over most of the front of other and sunk in about 6 or 7 inches. I asked permission from occupant and Universe to try to move stone to see behind. When I slid it up and over the stone behind had my daughter's birth date and name "Lemuel. Continuing to walk I looked up and first thing I saw was a huge date, the same as my father's death a few months before (not year, just day). I stood reading the stone and looked up again and saw another huge stone with my ex-fiance's name. Months later a friend and I were driving past and had the urge to pull into same cemetery, the moment we did "Dead Man Walking" by Bowie started playing on stereo.

I have lived in several old homes where strange things happened. One place you could hear the door open and footsteps across the kitchen and no one there.Fiance didn't believe me until he finally heard it also. In another place a rocking chair would rock for no reason and when an antique dish I had got broken, one piece was missing and suddenly showed up a few days later on the mantle. Another you could feel the bed sink down as if someone had laid down next to you. Have witnesses to all of the above.

I had a dream that had lots of blood all over and could hear squealing tires, 2 days later my grandfather was hit by a car and killed. Another time I was driving at the road at the end of the airport and saw a plane coming off the runway into the road. I threw up my hands and quickly grabbed for the wheel again, nothing was there. Two days later a plane went off the runway there.

I went to a bookstore last Spring to order "The Franklin Coverup". The woman that waited on me just happened to have lost her home (and still had to pay for it!!) from the S&L scandal (couldn't get the book, out of print at that time). She asked me what the book was about, that's how I learned of her S&L nightmare.

I was driving home from my Mom and Dad's, in 1993, one night during a horrible thunderstorm and was in the valley and at the top of the hillside a strange red, green and white light shape seemed to be following me. I watched it for maybe 1/2 mile and it disappeared. Next thing I knew it came down out of the clouds just above the trees. Years later (last) I saw a UFO picture from Indiana that was exactly what I had seen that night. No planes or choppers could have been flying that night.

see pics #4 and #8
http://www.hbccufo.org/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=2019

There are many more strange things, these were just what came to mind. Believe it or not!

Oh, one last thing. I live alone now and when I took my clothes out of the dryer yesterday there were 2 men's socks (different types)in with my clothes!

Thanks for asking!

on edit> I have met smart Repubes also!

38. A quick rundown of some things for you
Will do my best with memories of things (not all in order mind you).

1. Dreams:
A. Dreamt of playing a card game in kitchen with my brother and sister and talking about some things (I was maybe 10 at the time). I saw the whole thing as though I was floating above us. The day it happend I remember telling my brother and sister I had dreamed this exact moment and they thought I was nuts :)
B. I dreamt I was standing in our living room (was maybe 14 at the time) and seeing the tv. There was a movie ad for a movie called foxes with jodie foster. IIRC they had black jackets with red letters spelling foxes on them. About a year or less later it happend just like in the dream. Nothing earth shattering, but it was weird to me at that time (I was 15 in 1980 when it came out - I think that was the year, give or take).
C. When I was 19 or 20 I dreamt the OSU buckeyes lost to the spartans. My new Brother in law (now X bro-in-law) wanted to bet me $50. I declined the offer. I even knew how much they lost by. And as I watching the game I thought 'they need a safety now to lose by that much' if I am not mistaken they got it. The buckeyes lost by the exact amount I said they would.

- No, nothing significant really, but peaked my interest in such things as pre-cog dreams all the same.

2. Ghosts/et al
A. I have a picture of one I can share, but won't publically for reasons I won't go into here. I doubted the whole thing for some time, but in retrospect it was as best I can tell a real ghost of sorts. PM me if you want to know more (and no, not being cloak and dagger about the whole thing, there are valid reasons why I don't put the photo here on DU).
B. Ghosts people in the family have seen:
1. When I was about 8 or so I was at grandma's house and heard relatives talking about a willow-the-wisp other people had seen shortly before someone died. Not just once, several times.
2. My sister and her friend lived in the garage apt where grandma had lived until she died. They were awaken one night to the sound of the christian channel blaring over the tv and went out and saw grandma's chair rocking. Scared em both so bad they came running into the house and would not sleep out there for a long time (grandma only watched wsfj on tv as the rest of tv was corrupt).
3. Too many stories really about my time in a placed I lived that was built in 1865. Candles lit themselves, weird noises, toys coming on and saying things.

Have more I can discuss, got to run and get daughter ready for bed.

by people screaming "Whoopi, Whoopi" although the resemblance is a stretch in the eyes of the beholder. I did, however, stumble upon a doppelganger years ago. We both stopped dead in our tracks stared at each other for a good minute. If I hadn't been standing there in my own body I would have sworn I was looking at myself. She, by the astonished look on her face, was equally discombobulated. It was weird.

25. A dream in which
someone died outside a Tim Horton's when a truck plowed into a snowbank. I woke up knowing someone was going to die, I was agitated the whole day.

Later that night, I found out who it was. It was my neighbour's son, who was only about 11 or 12, and had gone for doughnuts that afternoon. I wasn't close to him, and didn't know why I had to know how, but not who, beforehand. Still don't.

26. When my dad died, a guy at the VA showed me a sample grave marker.
It was a life-sized photo copy. Of course, this was to illustrate the kind of headstone that my dad, a WWII vet, would receive.

Funny thing, though, the name on the photocopied sample was *mine*. First name, last name, middle initial. My nerves were so flattened by my dad's passing, though, that it honestly didn't rattle me much. I told the guy who was showing me the sample, and *he* got shook up: "I'm so sorry! Oh, God, please forgive me! I am so very sorry!

Weird though, seeing your full name on a grave marker, even a sample. :scared:

I hope she did not suffer.

I lost my Dad last Memorial Day, almost exactly 19 years to the hour of when the tornadoes of 1985 came through here.(another weird) He almost died then. We were lucky to have him for as long as we did. Guess it proves that if it's not "your time"... Mom just ordered their stone, without her name. I was happy about that. Too weird to have your name on something you aren't ready for yet!

120. Dude...I'm sorry. That sounds really rough.
I mean, I can totally relate to having a case of flattened nerves after the loss of a loved one, but to have something that freaky transpire on top of the grief? Is harsh (even if you didn't "feel" the shock proper as a result of your recent bereavement).

30. An Ambulance, forced to pick up a dying man at gunpoint
Across the street from my childhood home in Mexico, a motorcycle crashed into a car. Ambulance was called. They arrived but refused to pick up the biker because they did not think he would make it to the hospital alive. They wanted the funeral hearse to pick him up instead (no profit for the ambulance in picking up a dead body). My neighbor went inside his house, came back with a gun, and forced the ambulance crew to pick him up at gunpoint, then went with them to the hospital.

33. A few things.
Edited on Tue May-24-05 08:15 PM by SarahBelle
When I was very small (3,4 and 5), I kept dreaming about a huge fire on my mother's birthday. It happened over and over. When I was five, we were coming on on my mom's birthday and a house next to ours was in flames.

When I was 15, I had a dream about our driveway being blocked by firetrucks because a neighbor's house was on fire. A week later, I was somewhere and my dad was unable to pick me up for over an hour because the driveway was blocked by firetrucks.

On the night of September 10, 2001. I had vivid dream of explosions in the distance.

There's been a few other less concrete intuitive things, but enough to make me trust my gut instincts about stuff. There was one experience that I'm convinced was other a spirit or some other form of energy I don't understand because it was just so intense.

I believe my being intuned to that whole fire thing will probably save either my life or that of someone else's someday. It may sound weird, but it's something I wouldn't dismiss if I were to have dreams like that again.

35. A premonition of danger that I heeded!

I was on the way to work in the late afternoon on the highway several years ago, behind a pickup with a couple of ladders in the back.

Suddenly, I had the weirdest feeling-- had never felt anything like it. A cold chill or something. It told me calmly but sternly to move over a lane to the right; the ladders probably weren't secured.

A minute after I pulled into the center lane from the far left and sped up to pass the truck, both ladders came hurtling out of the back, and I could hear brakes squealing, and cars panicking to avoid them.

Chances are, they would have gone right through my windshield.

I heard cars begin to crash several hundred yards behind me, and had to pull off at the next access road into a parking lot because it freaked me out so bad. I was still shaking when I got to work.

Strange in a nightmare-type way. After all, people act like Bushbots. I never thought this would happen to the U.S.

I believe in ghosts and UFOs, but haven't seen any. I just went to Williamsburg and Jamestown, VA, which are supposed to be crawling with ghosts (especially Williamsburg.) But I didn't see or feel them.

42. You bring up a good point really
perhaps without knowing it.

Allow me to relate.

Growing up I was a dem and repub all at same time. I didn't really understand politics and such. But I studied my bible and eschatology.

I saw, in a sense, how the future could unfold. And now, with bush in office, I am seeing more clearly how accurate those thoughts in my past were.

People who should know better are falling in lockstep. People who are really the opposite of bush vote for him. I know people like this, am related to some. Coolest, nicest people, who see bush as good and dems as only wanting to get gays the right to marry and to take your tax dollars to fund their welfare and save the owls.

It is, indeed, a scary and weird time.

When the filibuster deal was made Monday I had this horrible feeling in my gut. About a month or two ago I had a flash of a bomb going off somewhere (in the northeast). Once I had a future dream where I was watching CNN and three reporters were talking about something big that had happened. One person (the main reporter) was blaming Bush (it was his fault), the second reporter was blaming Clinton (go figure!) and the third reporter was blaming Kerry. Now the third reporter ordeal was just weird. I had a feeling that NYC was hit again and horribly. I think they are planning for something. In this dream I sensed Bush was either just out of office (like a month or so) or about to leave office.

47. Two things
Once, as a child, probably 7 or 8, my parents were out at my uncle's house. I'd been there many times and was familiar with the route. I desperately wanted my parents to be home. I started to imagine that they were leaving my uncle's house. I could see the streets they would travel down in my minds eye, along with stop signs and stop lights they would have to travel through. I imagined them parking out on the street in front of my house, and that they were walking up to the front door. When I imagined they would open the front door, they actually did. It kind of creeped me out.

My first job out of law school required me to travel 60 miles one way. On a Friday night I left my office and was traveling down the interstate towards my home. It was well after rush hour and there was hardly any traffic. It was night time. The interstate had 3 lanes in each direction. I chose to drive in the right "slow" lane. I was driving about 60-65 mph. As I was driving, alone, a voice in the back of my mind told me to change lanes. I changed to the middle lane. A mile or so down the road a truck was stopped, without lights, in the right lane. Had I not changed lanes, I would have smashed into the truck. Strange stuff.

48. right now
I'm trying to figure out why I have seen 3 foxes in 3 days, running across the road in front of the car. Interesting thing is, they were about 100m miles apart as I was travelling during those days. One of them I saw at exactly the same time as a voice on the radio said "Vincente Fox." Believe me, it's is not usual for me to see foxes. I have only seen one other in my life. Anybody good with animal symbology?

I have had several premonitions about other people that have turned out to be true, some of them too spooky to tell. Also I have had instant feelings of negativity around certain people. I'm not trained to read auras or anything--it's just a feeling of overwhelming aversion. On three different occasions a person I felt this way about initially has tried to cause trouble for me, so now I really trust that negative vibe.

69. I'm the same way with feelings
When I was in high school I learned to trust my feelings more and I know I'm empathetic and can feel things from people. There was a few girls I knew who didn't like me and I could just feel it off their bodies onto mine so I would becareful of how I was around them. I feel the same MAJOR negative vibes from Bush and his group. Kerry had this beautiful, and can be addicting, positive vibe from. I've never ever felt anything like this from anybody before. With Bush it's the complete opposite. :scared: You can see the evil from his eyes. I remember one time going to bed and I looked out the side window next to the front door and saw a wolf. This is about the fox as a totem and possibly why you've been seeing them lately:

http://www.crystal-cure.com/fox.html

<The fox is an important totem with many aspects.

* Quick mental and physical reponses to problems
* Magic and cunning
* Camouflage or the ability to blend in with surroundings while keeping your intentions private
* Protector
* Ability to move through new dimensions
* Growth or creation of new worlds within yourself >

for the fox symbolism.

I also found an interesting reference to the fox in medieval times as a symbol of the common folk against the feudal barons. I'm assuming this means that the commoners had to use their wits and camouflage to outfox the exploitative landlords. Seems like we're kind of in that same position today. Going to take a lot of collective intelligence to defeat the most powerful robber barons in history.

58. a dog that left no footprints
This happened at Christmas several years ago.

My parents, my sister, and I had been out, and we were driving home at night. It had been snowing off and on all day.

When we pulled up in our dooryard, I saw a dog directly in front of us, right in our headlights. I'm not particularly familiar with dog breeds, but it was fairly large and to me it looked kind of like a Labrador Retriever.

I said, "hey, there's a dog out there!" They all looked, and none of them saw it.

The dog walked across our driveway and out of the light. And then it was gone.

We got out of the car, and I tried to see where it had gone. I didn't catch another glimpse of it, but I did notice something else. There was fresh snow all around, but it was completely undisturbed. The dog hadn't left any footprints.

When I saw this thing, I had not taken any drug or drunk any alcohol, and I hadn't been sleeping in the car. This happened while I was wide awake and unintoxicated.

The eyes were not visible to me, so I can't say what color they were. It was just a side view of the animal. Come to think of it, a real dog would have turned to look at the car, wouldn't it?

Nothing really earth shattering like some other stories here, but I'll share 'em

1)I don't remember this but my mother used to tell me that one time when I was about 4, we drove past a fountain and I said "Oh there's grandma" I had only met my grandma when I was an infant, but apparently my mother asked how I knew. "I just knew" is what I said. I do remember the fountain itself, we would pass it often and I loved looking at the colors change.

2) Driving down the street I suddenly had a vision of a goat. (this was not a rural area!) a minute later, there was a goat running across the street in front of me. (later I realized there was a meat packing plant right there, I never realized what it was all that time-- :( )

3)One summer I was chanting at my altar, evening prayers. I noticed a very cute bright green moth across the room. So I'm chanting away and thinking how cute that moth is and wishing the moth could know the feelings of tenderness I had towards him (her?). I just soooo wanted to communicate with that moth! Well, I just continued chanting and lo and behold, the moth fluttered across the room, straight for my nose. Landed on my nose, and walked around in circles, flittering on my nose for several minutes, while I continued chanting. After awhile, s/he fluttered onto my shoulder, hung out for a bit and then fluttered away.

4) When turdweasel stole the election in 2000, my very first gut feeling was "Oh my god, we have just "elected" the Antichrist." I felt it realllllllly strongly, and I'm not much into Christian mysticism.

5) this isn't anything "big" either, but I remember clearly many years ago having a strong "knowledge" one day that the biggest danger we as a country are going to have to face one day will be the corporations. I was not politically aware at all at the time...I don't remember what brought that thought on, but it made an impression.

So, those are the ones that come to mind.
I've also had quite a few startling tarot card readings. Not so much predictive, but startling insights into what was going on in my life at the time.

This is a good thread; interesting reading, I love this kind of stuff.

I've had a few spirits come to me for help with crossing over. I've also had some future vision's of my future family. One time I was laying in bed and couldn't sleep. Usually the reason's I can't sleep is either 1) Full moon 2) Spiritual activity and someone wants to make contact with me. I felt a presence next to my door and I could sense it was my future self and a future daughter. I heard the daughter say "Mommy" and that was really weird (she was a young toddler). I also remember one of my first real spiritual experiences was on an early Saturday morning and I couldn't sleep for anything. I just had a few hours until I was supposed to go and visit my grandparents. I politely, yet sternly, asked the spirit to leave me a lone and let me sleep and then outside my bedroom door I saw this bright flash. I later found out it was a guardian of mine trying to get in touch with me (who I'm now in touch with).

4. I felt the same way when Smirk stole the first election, but have since realized he's too stupid to be "THE anti-christ", but he DOES have a major role in "introducing" or "leading" people to the anti-Christ.
Approximately 2 or 3 months before 9/11, a plane almost crashed into my neighborhood. It was "aimed" directly at me, but 2 little boys I was reading a story to jumped up and screamed, and then the plane veered off towards a neighbor's house, barely missing it, then over trees, and down towards the lake. It looked like a B-17 except it was dark primer gray with no letters, numbers, or symbols on it. A girl in the neighborhood also witnessed the aircraft, stating it hit the tops of trees, so she called her dad who was working at an Air Force base not far away, and reported she thought it crashed. He assured her he'd have someone check into it. There was never any follow up or investigation. I learned a similar incident happened to someone in the southern U.S..
Just days before 9/11, a neighbor and I were discussing corruption and how leaders can "allow" terrorist attacks for a reason to declare martial law, etc.

5. You are correct about corporations. You would be appalled to know how many politicians invest in stock, then pass laws to guarantee full use of product or service, or send warnings to make the public purchase or invest, (privatized prisons, Tasers, plastic window covering and duct tape, energy companies, privatized social security, etc..). All under the guise of "security" or safety, while the true motive is greed and power.

These aren't even my "interesting" stories. It would take weeks to post them all. ;-) One thing I've learned is to follow my instincts, I've always regretted when I didn't, and always grateful when I did. If you get negative vibes from someone, avoid them at all costs or keep your distance, if possible. Including family, no matter how much you Love them.

Lately I have looked back over everything that has taken place in America since The Coup of 2000, even more so than I did during the campaign days, and the gargantuan, pervasive nature of it has just flattened me--it's invaded everything and everyone I cared about before that year, including people I thought were incorruptible If that's not strange, I don't know what it is.

73. For years I worked as a travel agent.
Several of my clients travelled constantly, and I'd make sure they received a gift basket at Christmas. This one man was very friendly and nice and always sent a thank you note.

About six years ago he abruptly stopped travelling and called to tell me he'd been diagnosed with cancer. I sent the basket as usual at Christmas time, but didn't hear anything from him, which didn't surprise me. I didn't expect to.

The following April his wife called to tell me he'd passed away. That night I left for a week's vacation. My mom collected my mail while I was gone, and when I went to retrieve it, mixed in with the bills and junk mail was a handwritten "thank you" for the Christmas gift, postmarked December 28th. How and why it found its way back to me after the man's death and after being lost for four months remains a mystery. Gave me a big case of the creeps.

75. bitten by a garden snail. drew blood.
kinda high up on the weirdness ladder. i think i might have weirder though.

fed it lettuce, heard it *crunching* the lettuce, wondered how it was doing that. i petted the snail, ad eventually placed my finger under the lettuce leaf to find where's the mouth. it was slicing parts off the leaf in horizontal layers, making little "rice paper windows" on the lettuce leaf. gave it back, kept eating, put finger under the leaf, thought it was amusing how you could feel the scraping through the leaf. eventually the mouth broke through the leaf, but it was hard to tell, so soft and squishy. then the snail bit me without knowing it. bit deep enough to draw blood. had to get a band-aid. poor thing was scared, retracted its eyes and body a bit as i reacted in shock. snail probably was not used to tasting blood either, too.

does this count?

I corrupt ladybugs. When there's a ladybug bopping around the house, I give 'em a drop of water with sugar in it. They looooove it. I mean watching em sip up that sugar water--each one has a different reaction. They show up for days for their sugar fix. One was a real little addict! She would take a sip, shudder, go back to sipping, and then pass out with her face in it. I had to nudge her and she would stagger away, dry off and come back to the drop of sugar water!!

I don't care if you don't believe me on this, and I wouldn't blame you if you didn't.

For about a year before Sept. 11th, whenever I saw a plane flying overhead, I would start to panic. Several times, I had to pull my car over because I couldn't breathe, and I would shake violently. This never happened when I was actually on a plane, and it didn't happen when I saw them in the distance; only when I saw one fly overhead.

In July of 2001, I started having dreams in which I would look out my bedroom window and see an airliner heading directly at me. I always woke up before it hit. By August, I was having them almost every night.

110. Strange
Did you know anyone who was killed on 9/11? Do you live near NYC, Washington, Boston or Pennsylvania? Do you live near one of the places the hijackers supposedly lived or took flight training?

There's a reason why you were picking up these energies. It would be fascinating to find out what the connection is.

79. I wouldn't say this is the strangest/wildest thing I've
ever seen, but I heard it is pretty rare. I saw a shooting star explode while it was shooting across the sky. It was so awesome. A friend and I were sitting on a swing smoking a cigarette and we both saw it. I was so glad someone else saw it b/c I couldn't really explain it. It was so cool.

88. I've seen a shooting star
I remember when I saw it. We were on the way home from my grandparents and I was looking out at the window and out of nowhere a star was falling and then just disappeared. I wasn't sure if what I was seeing was real but I'm pretty sure it was. :)

I was seven and I thought that kind of thing happened all the time, and that I would see lots more before I was "grown up." Little did I know it would probably be the last time I saw anything like it.

83. I have a couple
-Very often when I'm driving at night a streetlight will burn out above my car. Not every time, but more often than not.

-I see the time 10:16 nearly every day (10/16 is my birthday), am or pm, or sometimes both.

-I used to date this guy in HS, and whenever I would drive home from his house at night, I could see a silhouette of a man in my rear view mirror.

92. one time....
a guy who went around town mowing lawns came up to the house we were renting and asked if he could mow the yard for a few bucks. We knew he was kind of a burn-out case and we felt sorry for him, so said OK. Afterwards he came up to get the money and was chatting a bit. In the course of this minor conversation this guy suddenly launches into a "psychic reading" of both my SO and me, which was extremely accurate. He told us our respective birth months, and much else. We have had no interaction with him before or since. It was very, very strange. My SO is a scientist, and even he was impressed by this uncanny front-porch analysis. Surreal.

94. The boat in the road that saved my life ....
While at college I was dating a girl who lived on the other side of town. One night (or morning) while driving back from her house after a thunderstorm, I fell asleep at the wheel. I was at the top of a hill with a long, straight downhill, and a sharp turn at the end.

At the moment I fell asleep I saw a white yacht sitting across all lanes of traffic ahead and realized I would hit it. I jerked awake, slammed on the brakes, and fishtailed all the way down the hill to a stop. Without waking up, I would have picked up speed and plowed into the trees on the bend at the bottom of the hill.

Completely freaked out, I looked around for the boat but it had disappeared. As I started to calm down, I kept looking, then realized that the glow of the streetlights in the distance shining off the wet pavement made a white, crescent shape ... which my sleeping brain interpreted as a white boat.

The "WTF is a boat doing here?" response saved me.

95. The meteor that destroyed my car ...
Just thought of another one ...

Early one morning at the start of a camping trip, my car was destroyed on a major highway. At first, I wasn't sure exactly what hit me ... all I remembered was the flash of yellow from my right, me turning to go with the impact to lessen it, and my car rolling over and over into a side street. After getting out the road was covered with car debris ... glass, metal, broken plastic ... but no indication of what had hit me. My wife and I sat dazed on the curb trying to unscramble our brains. The only thing I could think of was a flaming meteor had somehow smashed into the side of my car, causing it to roll.

After a few minutes, another car pulls up to see if we were alright, and the driver tells us, "You guys were real lucky, we were driving behind you and saw the whole thing!"

It turns out that a bunch of teenagers had just burgled a house and escaped with the owner's car. As they came up to the highway they blew through the stop sign doing 50+ and T-boned me. The yellow flash I saw was their fender before it hit my door and we rolled. While our car was balanced on its side, and before it rolled back onto its wheels, the teens got their car started (just) and then continued their getaway. They just made it over a hill out of my sight before the engine caught fire and they had to scramble out. The other driver followed them, called the cops, who caught them all with a K-9 unit.

To this day I still have a hard time believing I was hit by a car because all my concussed mind remembers is the flash and the car rolling.

things that have happened in my life which were strange with a capital S. There was that time I had a random, passing thought about my dad having a heart attack...just four hours before that actually happened (my father had no real forewarning that he was about to have an MI, aside from the general not-so-great-cholesterol and late-middle-age factors).

And then there was that one time...I was driving home late (but not THAT late) at night, and passed the nicest park in my city (bland, but friendly suburban state capital). The park they close promptly at nine p.m. because of all the crime and vandalism that takes place there, even with constant patrols by the local P.D. The park in which the "don't litter/forget to clean up after your dogs/come in here after it's closed" regs are strictly enforced. Right near the edge of the southern pasture, in the middle of the oldest cluster of trees, was a perfect circle of what looked like ten torches, about ten or fifteen feet high, burning brightly and being held by figures in dark clothing. Yes, you read that correctly. Most bizarre sight I've witnessed, especially considering that it happened in that most unlikely of all spots in my little town. They were all just standing there, making a sinister, incongruous picture a mere stone's throw from some of the prettiest, most well-kempt and expensive homes we have to offer. Freaked my shit out, particularly because at that time--and I presume, now-- if you even think about parking there after dark, you will get an immediate talking to from whatever licensed, armed police officer happens to be there, and one always is. My mind boggles at the idea that those folks were getting away with their scary gathering at all more than it does over what on earth they were doing during it.

119. A *very* strong connection with someone
My best friend in high school and I could often talk without talking. We'd be at separate houses and I'd 'ask' her to call me, in my head. And then she would. Several other times, other people witnessed it, as well.

Also, a few times that I had dreams of situations that I later experienced, where I knew ahead of time what people would say. Briarius has this much more strongly than I do, though. He dreamed about a situation we were in together before he met me :)

121. I've had that connection with a couple of people.
Edited on Thu May-26-05 07:48 PM by BlueIris
Strangely, they're all people I've had negative relationships with. My dad and I have an unfortunately still weirdly strong connection--something I hate because our relationship is so terrible, I've had to phase him out of my life. The most insane example of this is the other day, when I was randomly thinking about buying a copy of Dee Brown's "Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee," didn't tell anyone I was thinking about purchasing it, not one word to a soul, didn't even jot it down, and my father showed up on my doorstep with a copy of that book. The psychotic ex-boyfriend and I continue to have "the bond," in the sense that if I'm having a panic attack in the middle of the day for no reason--I can bet money he will have tried to call, e-mail or contact me by dusk. And then, there was that situation I had with a boy in high school--he was sweet, and very intelligent, and a total bookworm like me, and had claimed to have developed a little crush on me...but there was the microscopic issue of his being very, very gay. It was just one of those "this is never going to work, even though we have so much in common" things, because well, yeah. Straight woman + gay man=someone, if not both parties, being very unhappy (at least part of the time). For three years after graduation, whenever I would find myself thinking about him, an e-mail or letter would show up from him. We never really even kept in touch after the end of school. So curious.

The people I love? Well, apart from John Kerry, (don't laugh) with whom I have a (stop laughing) veritable mind-meld, (you can quit laughing anytime) "the bond" just isn't there. Not in a telepathic way, anyhow. I have no idea what that's about.

122. I saw the groom jump off the wedding cake
When my mother married her second husband, they had a separate bride and separate groom Precious Momnets figurine on the wedding cake at the reception. I saw the groom move upwards, out, and down like a projectile. The figurine broke on the floor. There were no marks on the cake to suggest that it had slid off. The physical evidence suggested that it happened exactly as I saw it.
Their marriage was terrible starting on the way back from the honey moon. Unfortunately, it took my mother 10 years to divorce him.
