1. Other: there's usually something better to watch on TV anyway
and movies are just too damned expensive.

2. Other: it's boring!
It's a cheap, easy way to get attention and to write a movie script. Throw a severed head, drench a naked girl in blood. Yeah, it's desensitizing, it's traumatizing and all that, but basically, it's lazy, bad writing. I'd rather have a story about people whom I can care about, not disposable victims.

Come to think of it, that's what I'd rather have in my political life, too.

3. That's Why I Don't Allow Children To Watch "Cops"
it is desensitizing children to police brutality.

4. Cops also promotes ugly racial and classist stereotypes.
The only thing it's useful for is that it does show what not to do when pulled over by the cops.

Usually it's not a good idea to step on the gas and make a run for it when you are being pulled over for a busted tail light just because you have a roach in your ashtray.

Usually, it's not a good idea to scream and thrash and curse at the cop.

As for police brutality, my gripe with cops is that it doesn't show brutality - the cops are always on their best behavior for the cameras, and follow policies to a "t". If the cops didn't know the cameras were on, I imagine you would see very different behavior.

Unfortunately for the suspects, they are often too high to notice the cameras, and often make fools of themselves...

6. Correct! Except That...
I've noticed cops were on good behavior when the show first began airing, but now they seem to want to show off their stupid brutality and abuse skills. They became very "cocky" and arrogant whenever I watched "Cops", (which is why I quit watching it).
My Godson wants to be a cop when he grows up, and I tell him "Only if you're a good cop, never be a bad cop. Always follow the rules".

5. Because most violent TV is advertising for the military...
and that's what I'm most afraid of.
