Christian developers want to provide alternatives to graphic violence

From the demonic violence of Doom to the sinister Resident Evil series, many of today's most successful titles draw inspiration from dark places.

But a growing band of Christian game developers are taking a stand.

3. Here's a conundrum...

Yeah, Doom 3 is violent and gory, but you're fighting demons, you're not one of them. (You'd think they'd be on board for the "fighting demons" part.) I just got it for Xbox a couple of weeks ago to do co-op play with a friend of mine, but I've been playing Psychonauts for the most part. It's weird and quirky and fun and wildly inventive.

And oh yeah, this is exactly why video games nowadays have ratings. Duh!

4. There are a TON of games out there that would appeal to the Xians.

My 5 year old has about 50 of them, but they are in a pile that he abandoned when he outgrew them because they were too babyish. The Thomas the Tank Engine games, "How Many Bugs in a Box?", and cute little Freddie the Fish maze games, etc.

I'll sell this pile to the Xians. Cheap.

7. I Don't Get These Idiots?

In virtually any of those types of games, you always 'frag' evil and the world is SAVED from the minions of Hell like Doom or Diablo?

What alternative are they contemplating...having evil win?

I guess they would like it if everyone played Tetris and Messiah?

Most of the games I play aren't all that violent. Last night I played an intense round of Burger Time before bed.

No sausages or eggs were actually harmed in the playing of this video game.
