American Idol tonight! Who is the front-runner?
I bet on Bo, but remember Carrie has not been in the bottom three and Bo has. I am rooting for Bo, but I like them as the final 2.

3. I think Bo will pull it off.
I don't watch The Contender, but I might watch Romber.

5. Carrie
Bo is OK, but not anything marketable in my opinion.

6. All these performers are second rate
I think Carrie is third rate. If she wasn't so hot, she wouldn't have made it to the finals, IMO.

8. I have to disagree.

When they get them in the studio, they do so much with their voices. Most singers don't even sound good live. I think Carrie has a great voice.

10. I'll say that BO is more marketable than Carrie just becasue
I might actually go to see him in concert because of his stage presece. Carrie, on the other hand, just kind of stands in one spot and looks good. I think the true test will be when they release a studio album, but I haven't been impressed with past idol contestants or winners albums. They just seem second rate. If they were first rate performers, they wouldn't need the show.

12. That is not necessarily true.
It is extremely hard to get discovered. I agree that the past winners albums haven't been great, but all have sold over a million copies. That is a decent amount. Kelly Clarkson is a great talent. Her voice is amazing. Carrie needs to work on her stage presence, but as a country star, I think she fits the part!

15. You may be right about Carrie, as long as she sticks to country
It's good to see the producers allowing winners to pick genres that fit, like Reuben with gospel.

18. Yeah you can't expect someone like Bo to sing
Whitney Houston. It just doesn't work and kind of scares me. Stick with what you know.

14. She has no formal training
Bo is 30 years old and has been performing for years. I think that Carrie could get the right coaches and do fine. She has a good voice, it's just that her technique is not refined.
When she sang on the auditions, she did a great job in my opinion. Of course I'm not voting and it will not change my life one way or the other who wins.

17. Hopefully, as she gains confidence she will feel better on
stage. She is doing better now that when it started. She just stood in one place and sang, now she tries to sway back and forth a bit. She's coming along, but I don't think it's in her like Bo has it in him.

19. Carrie would certainly benefit from some training
and how to work on her stage presence.

7. Neither really deserves to have a record contract but....
Edited on Tue May-24-05 11:32 AM by Mike Daniels
Carrie's look (curvy cute blond) will override her less than stellar stage performances and carry her across the finish line ahead of Bo's tired microphone dragging routine.

Even if Carrie ends up in second I think she'll end up having the more successful "career" over Bo strictly because her looks will trump her lack of any significant talent.

16. I 'll acknowledge that Carrie has a good voice...
Edited on Tue May-24-05 11:43 AM by Mike Daniels
I just don't think she's got what's needed to be an above competent much less an engaging live performer (but it's not like that part really enters into the AI equation).

I do think she'd make a great backing vocalist or studio performer however.

-------------------------------------------------------

But then again, if I had the ability to greatly effect the public's buying habits Nick Cave and Richard Thompson would be superstars and the Britney's and Jessica's of the world would be performing strictly on karaoke nights in small town bars.

11. I think you may be right on Carrie, I mean, how do
you explain the success of J.Lo's singing career. She's just hot.

13. Now I can agree with you on that.
J Lo sucks. I mean flat out sucks. But she has a good look, and a good figure. Body image sells and she is proof.

20. It seems the producers have picked Carrie by giving her
the better songs. This is where the producers have a hand in selecting who they will make the most money from. Mario got it right to get out of that competition ASAP. It just kills me that people hear Carrie hold one note and all the sudden she is "the greatest singer, in the world." I think Bo has more marketability. We'll see tonight.
