1. the 5.6.7.8's
Edited on Tue May-24-05 01:04 AM by swag
in their all-girl incarnations.

Close second would be the Runaways (though Kim Fowley really prevented them from being all-girl).

Then the Slits, I guess.

So many great ones.

9. I'm sitting here trying to think of all girl bands
and there really aren't a whole lot of them that I can think of. But I'll go with the Supremes. I think there were more girl bands back in the day. We need more women in rock-n-roll.

23. I studied them in my Anthropology course.
well, it was more based around Greil Marcus' book "Lipstick Traces" about the Sex Pistols and how they descend from a long line of rebellion across history. it's actually more exciting than it sounds.

the slits were on the bbc telling the guy who was interviewing them/hitting on them to fuck off or something (i'll never forget that)

24. have you ever heard of the sounds?
It's a girl singer with boys backing her, but she is definitely the dominant one.

27. The Bangles: hands down, heels up!
For harmony singing, they kick the Beach Boys back to the garage on the best day they ever had. Vicki, Debbi and Michael are world class on guitar, drums and bass. Their version of "Hazy Shade of Winter" CUTS Simon and Garfunkel's. (Oh, the heresy!) And, um, none of them are too hard to look at!

:loveya:

(Yeah, I left out Susanna, but volumes have already been written about her!)
