What does being on a "buddy list" get you?

1. I asked this EXACT question last week.

It's for the benefit of the person making the list - not the buddy on the list. It keeps all your peeps readily accessible - so like if you want to send a PM you don't have to go search out a post they made to do so, you can just get them out of your buddy list!

4. Practically nothing. Just makes it easier to find the buddy's profile,

to PM him/her, etc. Mainly useful if you frequently want to contact somebody with a difficult to remember screenname, eg those like mine where you might reasonably expect there to be a space in there somewhere. I'll put you on my buddy list and let you know what it does. If a chalupa magically appears beside you, do let me know.

Edit: As stated already, it just lets one PM another DUer or look up their profile (if the latter is enabled) without having to find one of their posts first. Thus, as I said already, it's mainly useful if somebody's username is hard to search ie hard to remember its exact spelling/phrasing.

5. Some use it

to mark posters they think are disrupters and then go back and check later to see if they are TSed yet. I tried that and it was a pretty good way to use it.

but then - that could be because I'm NOT on anyone's list! :shrug:

"edit preferences" - there are two features that give you e-mails - one notifies you if you've received a private message and one notifies you if you've been added to someone's buddy list.
