I just saw the life aquatic with Steve Zissou ask me anything
that movie was ridiculously awesome. I totally got heart pangs. It kinda made me wonder if Wes Anderson is the same sort of terminal nerd that I am.

1. It's supposed to be something of a love letter to Jacques Cousteau
I want to see it.

4. Its not a comedy, even though it is incredibly funny
its not without a few questionable plot points but it is alternately hilarious and surreal and poignant and real.

8. It's dedicated to the memory of Jacques Cousteau actually
"In memory of Jacques-Yves Cousteau and with gratitude to the Cousteau
Society, which was not involved in the making of this film."

2. I loved it too.
I don't know what else to say. Except that I am thrilled that my boyfriend loves it too. His reaction was 'we need to own this DVD' (between the 2 of us we own about 10 DVDs, so that is some serious good praise).

6. It was funny, yes, there were a lot of quirky odd moments, but
it was the poignancy and some brilliant visuals that really did it for me.
I felt like the movie was a celebration of the weird and eccentric that didn't turn eccentricty into either a joke or a dry unfunny dirge about suffering for uniqueness.

9. I found it to be really disappointing and a little thin
Which was upsetting because I've absolutely loved all 3 of WA's other films.

I don't even know what it was about it that I didn't like. I can't put my finger on any one thing, but it just seemed *thin* -- like there wasn't really that much of a plot or even a theme to it.

And, yes, btw, from all the interviews I've seen/read with Wes, he is perhaps the ultimate terminal nerd.
