2. Everyone seems to have fogotten about Team Dresch....
..but back around '96 they were THE SHIT. The first time I heard "uncle Phranc," I got goosepimples when they hit the line "And that's emotional BLACKMAIL!" Searing stuff.

4. Yes.
Team Dresch were an all-lesbian Punk band....the song is half-tribute to Phranc, half fiery denunciation of conservative parenting. Basically, they contrast how nurturing and accepting Phranc was to their scene with how their mothers treated them, and Phranc wins....but the delivery, the melody, the headlong velocity of their playing makes it alot more than just that.

Probaby one of the most exciting songs I've ever encountered.

5. Thanks! Actually I heard of Team Dresch cos I am lesbian.
Sadly I can't find their records. Phranc is hard to find, too, but I have a record called: "Folksinger" by Phranc. She is wonderful!

8. Thank you
I was paying very close attention to music during the nineties, and older than you.

I've never heard of any of that shit.

9. None of these songs were ever on commercial radio....
College radio was even pretty iffy on them.

I only mention them because the collective indie hipsters' memory usually only stretches back four or five years; I think these were great tunes that were/are unjustly ignored.

16. Sorry, but . . .
. . . the jury is still out as to whether they were ever great, or remembered enough to be forgotten.

14. I'm sorry, I was an alternative radio freak in the 90's...
And I have never heard of any of those songs, or the corresponding bands. And I listened to a lot of indie-rock at that time too.
