Okay, what the bleep is wrong with my Firefox now?
Damned browser is more quirky than an old Volvo. Now it has decided that I can't log into DU. When I enter my account and password, it goes back to the same page I tried to log in from, without logging me in. No error message, no "wrong password" message. I can log in from Explorer and Opera, but not Firefox, and I can use FF to log into other pages...

It's a few minutes from becoming my former browser.

2. I don't seem to have any problems with Firefox.
But I don't have any themes on it either, just the browser with plugins.

But the last few weeks it's been pretty spotty. And no, I haven't installed anything new on my computer to interfere with it.

29. i yanked firefox last week for the headaches its been causing me.
it was fine for several weeks and i had swapped over all my favorites to the firefox browser, then it started wiping out the favorites passwords, (DU too).

the browser is a good down loader, but it got too quirky last week and i stopped using it.

xp: Norton's, ad aware, spy sweeper, spy bot are what i use as prophylactics, and all were running fine until i started using firefox.

8. I'm pretty smart, and it comes up with a new problem every other day
It lost my bookmarks, it refuses to load pictures on some pages, now this login problem. It freezes up when it runs into Java (sometimes).

It's got a lot of great features and security, but it's getting close to not being worth the problem. Especially the bookmark thing. I'm still reading their forums looking for a solution, but I've got better things to do than spend an hour searching for quirks.

10. Do you empty the cache regularly?
It helps sometimes

Firewall? I've only just been having problems (whole computer, not just the Firefox & Mozilla browsers) since hubby put on the new Norton. Nothing but trouble since then.

directed at the people that come here to let everyone know that firefox/Mac/Linux/BSD let a pebble slip into your shoe, in the hope that you won't notice the boulder that MS and MSIE are dropping on peoples heads.

15. I've been using Firefox since 0.7 with no problems. However...
...speaking from 6 years of providing end-user tech support, the problems that crop up tend to fall into 1 of 2 categories:

A corrupted installation of the product.
Something else on the system interfering with the program.

I'm not saying that to sound condescending, just saying that usually, the problem isn't quite what it always seems.

17. Darn right. What I like to say is wait until Linux, Firefox and the
rest becomes more ubiquitous!! They'll have the same and worse problems the rest have. Remember they have not been targeted yet!

12. Just a guess, but...
a Java problem. One which I have no idea how to solve, btw, except possibly upgrading Java or FF, or messing with some deeply hidden control.

FF is getting there, but I still prefer Opera. 8.0 is a bit to get used to, but it's the most stable version yet.

24. I have the Java problem too.
A split second after I click on some sites, I know Firefox is going to crash.
It's not my puter but I do know that Firefox is still better than IE.
They just have some prob's to work out.

Java and try to log back on. Then re-enable Java. People have been having this problem with FF on certain sites. It seems that FF goes by different "Standards" than IE.

30. No. That was a good idea, though. I'm going to run
some spyware and trojan checkers. My Opera just started doing some weird stuff, too, like randomly clicking to another page while I'm typing in this one.

Probably nothing, but it's worth a try.

Not sure how. Some of the clearing and resetting and restarting finally cleared something.

Thanks, CG, and everyone else. Appreciate the help. And the banter over the merits of FF! :-)
