7. That was very strange for sure.
First song I thought was a little weird was Norwegian Wood. First song of theirs about which I had to ask, "What does this mean?"

Heh.

It seemed weird to me because of the instrumentation.

10. Komm Gibt Mir Deine Hand
und
Sie Liebt Dich

Just to hear those two tunes in German was a littloe odd. Of course, once I knewthe context, it wasn't so wierd.

12. Introducing the Beatles
That was the first album-with a Vee-Jay label. First recording was Love Me Do. This was with the 4 Beatles that we all know. The first drummer died of a brain hemorrhage. Remember Pete Best?

14. It wasn't Pete that died.
It was Lennon's friend, Stu Sutcliffe. They kept him in the band even though he couldn't play.

15. Aren't you confusing Stu Sutcliffe and Pete Best?
Pete Best was on NPR a couple of weeks ago talking up his new book.
Stu Sutcliffe passed away in the 1960's.

16. Ringo didn't play on "Love Me Do"
George Martin didn't think Ringo was good enough and brought in a studio drummer.

22. It was originally the B-side of some single...
can't remember which. I think it's from 1966.

Unless I'm mistaken, you can find it on the "Hey Jude" album released a few years later.

27. It was the "B" side to "Paperback Writer" -- the first 45 I ever bought.
I played the "A" side incessantly, and finally flipped it and played the "B" side to death as well. It was ood...but not truly strange.

19. Their first UK single was Love Me Do/P.S. I Love You
, released October 5, 1962, on EMI/Parlophone Records. The first USA single would be Please Please Me/Ask Me Why, which they released on February 25, 1963 on Vee Jay Records.

There was something a little strange about that relationship. OTOH, George was just beginning to get the sound of gently weeping guitar.

34. First was probably Tomorrow Never Knows
but it's still a great song. Most of their strange stuff was still entertaining - You Know My Name (Look up the Number), Maggie May, Hey Bulldog , etc.
