just had a mini-panic attack re: Daddy the Cat
The young man who had him as a kitten came to our door. He came here once before, having heard we had his cat, and took Daddy away. (Daddy came back to us three weeks later.)

Turns out their big orange cat named Pooky got out and they're looking for him. Well, the kid knows the smart thing to do: if you're looking for a cat in this neighborhood, come here.

But while he was giving Mrs. V. his phone number, Daddy came sauntering up onto the porch. I had to run into the house and I hid my face in the wall and covered my ears. I didn't want to hear the argument about "hey! Here's Little J! Come on home, buddy" and Mrs. V. telling the kid "LIKE HELL!" and going through the litany of Daddy's asthma, injuries, shots, microchip, etc., etc., etc. . . .

She appeared in the room where I was hiding and said "He didn't take Daddy. He knows he's our cat now."

I fucking HATE these uncontrollable fucking panic attacks! At least this one was brief, with an instant calming denouement.

but :argh:!

Well, now. It's a lovely day and I'm going to take my book outside and read, looking up now & then to see if I can spot Pooky.

2. He is your cat
even if they managed to physically take him back, he'd be back at his real house as quickly as feline-y possible.

3. EVERYONE knows Daddy belongs to you.
Even Daddy. If that kid had taken him you can bet Daddy would have been back within hours. Panic attacks suck, I know this.

6. Sigh.
Yeah, they do. I managed to get through this one w/out running to the Xanax, though.

PS dig the photo you took in the car's visor mirror. ;)
