(Boston pix - photo heavy): My 1,000th post
I needed a break from all the insanity around me, and decided to post something light. I have some company visiting from California, so we took a little walk around Boston. Here’s some of what we saw yesterday morning.

Welcome to Boston’s Public Gardens

George Washington guards the west entrance to the Gardens

Make way!

Now to the Frog Pond on the Boston Common

The Massachusetts 54th memorial

Right across the street is the state Capital.

The Granary Burying Grounds & some well known names

Here’s the King’s Chapel

The South Meeting Hall

Here’s my favorite building in the city

For a good time, do this

The old State House

Faneuil Hall

The Holocaust Memorial. Six towers, 4,000,000 serial numbers.

2. Nice pix!
I love the McCloskey statue. Draws kids like a magnet!

And being a genealogist makes the Granary extra specially cool. I modeled some of my Halloween insulation tombstones on the graves there.

3. Wow! Thanks for the photo tour!
I've never been to Boston. I could kick myself for not going when my friends lived there for a while. I just couldn't afford to travel then.

when I was down there a month ago :). I may have to go back into town and take some pictures again.

15. Thanks for the pics from my original hometown!
Much history to be explored in Boston. School field trips were cool when I was a kid. Freedom Trail, Fanuel Hall, State House, The Common, The Museum of Sciencs, Museum of Fine Art, Peabody Museum, New England Aquarium.... Boston area was a cool place to grow up.

I'll be back there from June 9-16 and will make time to go downtown with my camera.

Picked up some art supplies and met another DUer for lunch. I did stroll around Downtown Crossings and the Common for a while.

All and all an enjoyable day.
