We all know that there's a lot of apparent parallels between
Revenge of the Sith and what's going on in the Bush administration now. I say
apparent because George Lucas has claimed he was thinking more along the lines of the Nixon years - which is only fair.
We also know that just about everything associated with
Star Wars is trademarked and the copyrights are enforced fairly rigorously, and with good reason: too many people would love to make a buck seeling inferior knock-off SW memorabilia. That's cool.
But maybe -
just maybe - those of us with the time and money to spare can start a little "cultural jamming" along these lines. Dems in general and DUers in particular are the Rebel Alliance. The Bush administration is the Evil Empire, right down to Darth Bush and Palpatine Cheney. (And perhaps Leo "Exar Kun" Strauss?)
So, if you're gonna be a rebel, you might as well look the part. Here's a link to help:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=60361&item=7516177763&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVWNope, it's not mine. And if this item is aleady sold by the time you find this link, you should be able to purchase these helmets from Altmann's in Australia - they've got a Web site.
Now, we don't want to violate copyrights and we don't want to step on Lucas' toes, so we want to be very careful. Still, I think the "Fair Use" policy may come into play, even with the Digital Millenium Copyright Act in force. This might be one for our resident legal experts to research, though.
Having said that, let's brainstorm. I'm just plantin' seeds here...
