6. On past fund drives, admins had the software set up such that

any thread with 30 or more replies would also get a reply from Grovelbot begging DUers to donate. It was funny and has become a running joke in the Lounge; I believe there are people here who have started a church to worship Grovelbot. (OK, I made that up, but wouldn't it be funny?) Admins get bored, too, so this time they've replaced everybody's avatar with Grovelbot. Again, it's a good reminder and it's funny, or at least I think so.

9. Maybe you're on a different browser, and the "Make all the avatars silly"

command doesn't work for it. I'm on crappy ol' IE.

Anyway, I have no intelligent explanation; as I mentioned above, I even have avatars switched off and I still see them. Judging from the 10 topics on this in the Lounge and at least one in GD, most others can see them, too.

12. It's pretty cool, but not elaborate or anything

It's just Grovelbot rising slowly to fill the square, then a black on yellow sign saying, "Click here to Donate." Hypertext leads to the Donate page. Oh, and Grovelbot's eyes flash red a couple of times before the sign comes up.

On a separate thread, JimmyJazz says she can't see them either. Wonder if she's on Firefox, too.
