While Driving In Waldorf, MD Today, Some Teen Boys Shouted "FAG!" At Me...
... as they passed me in traffic. When I looked in their direction they puckered up and blew-kisses into the air and LAUGHED. I guess they were amused at how at how CLEVER they were for spotting my bumper stickers.

As we approached the next intersection, the traffic light had just changed to red. I guess they realized that I would have been just one car's length behind them... so they decided to run the light (even though it was WELL into being red.) How BRAVE they were, eh?

Idiots.

1. You shoulda chased them down.
Pointed and laughed, saying "you're afraid of a HOMO! Ha, ha, ha!"

Rub their smug little gaybashing faces in it till they cry from shame.

16. Is that on the Eastern Shore?
It seems kinda familiar from when I lived in DC and used to drive to the beach ... could be mistaken, though.

4. Hopefully they'll grow out of it.
At their age, they only know what they've been taught, and sadly, we know what they are being taught.

8. What sad little creatures.
My favorite story is when we were in Iowa canvassing for Dean during the primaries. A bunch of Texans went up there on a chartered flight. We would always be paired up and my husband and I were paired up with a gay couple and we were just canvassing, minding our own business, when this truck came by and the driver (young kid) yelled "Hey Dean's a FAG! YOU MUST BE FAGGOTS!"

One of the guys yelled "We're from Texas!" The guy stopped, backed up and yelled "So?"

He said, "SO in Texas even the FAGGOTS have GUNS, MOTHER FUCKER!"

Oh. My. God.

The kid looked at him for a second, looked at us, then took off.

I never laughed so hard. There we were standing in the cold drizzly rain in a place we'd never been with our big ol' Dean shirts on, laughing till we nearly peed our pants. His partner kind of got on to him for acting that way.

wow. I learn something here everyday.

In seriousness, I wouldn't worry about what a bunch of rednecks think. You have a whole lot more to offer the world than those losers.

They are just pissed because they live in Waldorf and can't get into the Asian massage parlors.

15. that's bad
Not necessarily worse than reproducing dialog from a racist blackface drag routine, but certainly quite bad in its own right.

18. Classy response, Allen.
That's why I like you. You could have given them the finger, but you blew them kisses. When people honk and give me the finger for my anti-war bumper-sticker, I smile and flash them a peace-sign. Then they don't know what to do. Maybe run a red light to get away from sanity. Know what I mean?

22. Actually...
... it was THEY who blew kisses to me. I just rolled my eyes in response to them.

But that's an excellent idea! If it's a situation where I'm relatively "safe" from being physically assaulted, then I might just blow kisses at them.

Just like all the chickenhawks who love war but won't go fight in it.

Sorry you have to put up with assholes like that, Allen.

20. Waldorf is out in rural nowhere
It isn't really a city, more of a strip along .... 301?

That section of Maryland gets more isolated and backwards the further south you drive.

21. That sucks
but yesterday, there was a kid making fun of homosexuals here in the res hall, and before I could say anything one of the other kids said "Who cares if two guys want to get married? That's their business!"

Now, I was pretty happy about that. A ray of sunlight in a dark time.
