British folk-a question
Is it a widely held opinion that British people find it some what offensive to be referred to as 'brits' ?
i heard this on the radio. :shrug:

Most Americans don't like to be called Yank.... But I kinda like it.

Just don't call me a republican.... them's fightin' words! ;-)

5. Bloke's fine too. The thing you must avoid is calling
someone from Scotland or Wales "English", because that WILL offend them. It's a whole different country.

"Republican" is also fine here and I am a proud republican (note the small r). This is because I favour the abolition of the monarchy and the establishment of a republic, so a completely different meaning. Similarly, if you say "liberal" it doesn't really have the same meaning over here. It means "supporter of the Liberal Democrats", our third party. It hasn't come to mean the left.

And socialism isn't a dirty word.
