After posting here for nearly 2 years , let me introduce myself :)
Hi all , I am CarolinaPeridot . That is the name I go by in the DU world . I probably only gave my real name through PM and by one post -I am sure nobody remembers ;) I first joined the DU in October of 2003 , while I was still living in Germany and became more and more angry at what Bush was doing to my country . Wow can you believe that I actually preferred posting in the GD more than I did the DU Lounge at the time . But as time went on I became more and more addicted to the lounge . And I knew I was hooked when I knew for a fact that " Robb is a Dingbat " .

Oh yeah my statistics : I am 24 , will be 25 in August . I am a Virgo . Born and raised in North Carolina . I speak German too . From time to I like to post responses to threads " auf Deutsch " ( in German ) just for the fun of it , just to see if anybody responds . I am renaissance girl : I have so many hobbies . But my main hobbies is music : I have played the clarinet since I was 10 , sung for the first time in public when I was 4 years old . I like to write music . I am always writing something . I went to college for one year , and I majored in Political Science . I only went one year because I was not sure if Political Science was what I really wanted to do , and so I took some time ( like 5 years ) away from school , lived my life , lived in Germany , saw the changes in the world and America while living overseas ; and now I am sure about what I want to do . I want to promote postive diplomacy through any means possible . It makes no sense to continue going down this spiral of crappiness . I have only been back in the US for 11 months btw . The only reason why I came back home was because I wanted to vote for John Kerry in person - I did'nt want a mail in vote , I wanted to pull the lever in person . Btw , I am very shy which is why I probably would never attend a DU Meetup nor would I ever post my pic in the gallery .

I don't post much on the DU anymore because I work a second shift job . I am so thankful to have a job and I can't complain about anything at all .

Ok that was me taking up space on the DU :P With all this talk about cliques , I like being the wallflower because it lets me see the whole picture ;)

2. Hi CarolinaPeridot.
I remember when you joined - Peridot is my birthstone, so it jumped out at me. Obviously, I'm also in August - but I'm a Leo!

Nice to make your aquaintance. I'm jealous of your experience in Germany, and your ability to speak the language.

Thank you for coming home to vote for Kerry.

5. I was more excited about election day 2004 than I was about my birthday ..
I remember waking up at 5 am in the morning just to go stand in line at the polls . Just this past Saturday on my way to work , my mom and I saw a driver who still had his " Kerry-Edwards 2004 " bumper sticker on the back . We let him in our lane just because of his bumper sticker . Then I commented on how nice the sticker looked , and then my mom said it looked " very Presidential " - It did indeed . All the hope that we had ... sigh .

I feel like taking some ducktape and quickly removing it while they are parked or at the stoplight

3. Nice to meet you!
I've never done an intro...I guess one could piece one together from my posts, but I just never thought about doing it. I just dove right in! Maybe someday.

Congrats on finding your path, just wish it wasn't necessary. I still haven't decided what I want to do when I grow up, and I am 31, btw!

Thank you for posting that! What a terrific introduction...Now I feel like I practically know you...But the hour is late, and I am tired; so I won't write a long bio like yours...but you'll see me around and get better acquainted as time goes by...

Really nice to meet you!

17. Me, too, in the real world.
I always enjoyed having difficulty deciding what to do on weekends, because several different cliques had parties or such happening.

But, in the rural area in which I grew up, it wasn't real cliquey anyway. Everyone got along with everyone. :D

18. When I was in HS , I was friends with everybody .
I was friends with the cheerleaders , the jocks , the nerds and even the thugs . I found good hearts in everybody . And people who met me have said , if there is someone who does not like me then they are truly evil . I don't think they are evil , I just think they are too stubborn to take time to get to know me ;)

19. Grüß dich!
Ich bin amerikanisch und ich studierte in Innsbruck, Österreich, aber mein Deutsch ist sehr schlecht jetzt... eu prefiro o português y el español... I think my brain likes Latin based languages better than the Germanic ones. Norsk was really hard for me (when I lived in Telemark, Norway), and I found Dutch a lot easier (Ik leefde in Grönigen)... Ich bin ein Musiker auch.

:hi:

Translated : I would love to travel to Austria one day . I lived in Germany for 3 years and 6 months . When I landed in Frankfurt ( in June 2000 ) , I did not have any luggage . The airline lost my luggage . ( They forget to tell me that I had to check in my luggage again before I boarded the plane to Frankfurt , Germany . So there I was , in country whose language I did not speak lol . ) They ( my luggage ) were still in North Carolina . I only had my toothbrush , and my passport with me in my back pack . But thank God they ( the airline ) found it because I did not have any clothes LOL . I learned the German language alone . ( I did take one class but it was actually too slow for me so I learned the rest alone . ) I bought books and anything to learn . ( I spent my summer days just sitting reading my ex-boyfriends Encyclopedias on German and World History , all in German . I would even quiz him about German history and he had no clue about certain things LOL ) I don't know all of the German language but I know enough to live there , and maybe also to work there . I want to travel again to Germany , Europe , also the whole world . But first , I want to stay in America ;)

Quero voltar ao Brasil porque tenho muito saudades! I want to move back to Brazil because because I feel a strong longing (angst). I came back to America to finish school and vote against the New Nazis Party, formerly the GOP.

Edited on Tue May-17-05 01:26 AM by RagingInMiami
And I spent some time in Europe after graduating college ten years ago. When I moved back to the US two years later, I settled in the SW, living in New Mexico, California and most recently, Arizona.

But I returned to Miami right before the election to help out with the Kerry campaign. I figured my home state needed the help. I didn't realize how much help it actually needed.

So we have a few things in common.

p.s., other than the fact that I rave about my two cats, which incidentally, are the two best kitties ever known to humankind....;-)

30. My family has a dog .
He is a brown chow . And he waits outside for me every morning when I get home from work ( at almost 1 am ) and then he goes to sleep . His brother ( they were born in the same litter ) lives at my grandmother's house ( up the street ) and sometimes they meet each other LOL - sometimes my grandmother's dog gets free and comes to our house or vice versa - but they always come back . Very smart dogs . Their mom was my grandmother's dog as well but she died while I was overseas .
