I never really took to "Star Wars"
It always struck me as kind of camp, or like a movie that was attempting to create a cartoon with human actors. That was an artistic step backwards.

Although "Space Balls" was a horrible movie, Mel did do a good job of parodying the gross inadequacies of the "Star Wars" concept. Therein lies the genius.

Frankly, after seeing the movie, the only thing I remembered was that I wanted to sleep with Carrie Fisher. But then I saw her a few years later and dropped that desire.

One of the best things about the movie was James Earl Jones doing the voice of Darth Vader. But that, too, ended up lame when I saw James in "Coming To America." He was much more powerful in person, as he probably would have also been in the place of a fake guy with a mask, cape, and phony recorded voice.

R2D2 was good. FOR FIVE YEAR OLDS.

There. I said it.

3. I'm a fairly big fan of the original Star Trek.
It wasn't so fantastically unbelievable and fake.

8. Klingons = Race created for addressing racial issues on Earth?
I don't know what was in Roddenberry's head. I'm no expert.

5. Is there Sci Fi that you like?
Not being critical. Just wondering if it's Star Wars specifically, or Sci Fi in general?

6. I think "Aliens" is one of the greatest movies ever made.

I also think "The Terminator" was excellent, setting the bar for all Sci-Fi movies that followed for the next decade.

I might be more prone to like Sci-Fi/Horror.

But "Star Wars" was just a little too way out there, and too much to swallow. So little basis in reality. Very difficult to suspend reality while watching.

On the other hand, maybe it is just me. Perhaps I'm just not sophisticated enough to enjoy it.

7. The first three movies were fun.
Once or twice. Before it became a mega-megacorp.

Yeah, I had the whole set of trading cards, but that was when I was like eleven. As highly-prized as my complete set of Welcome Back, Kotter trading cards, I tell you.
