Each year I have a Sunflower garden. They are huge plants with the stalks getting as big around as my own wrists. I started growing them in that spot because they love the full sun and they make a wonderful, natural sunscreen for my porch.
Our cat Myst loves to lounge under them in the summer and fall. She can almost hide herself in the back while still being free to observe everything going on around her.
I thought she would adore it if I planted catnip under the sunflowers.
Good news first: She loved it.
Bad news: Every darn cat between here and Wisconsin also loves it. They had a little catnip party last night which ran into the wee hours of the morning. I'm assuming they are all off somewhere now, sleeping off the night's activities, in preparation for a repeat showing this evening.
