The next Doctor Who:
David Tennant is confirmed to be playing the tenth Doctor Who said The BBC today in an announcement following the recommissioning of the second series.
The other week actor Christopher Eccleston shocked a lot of people after it was revealed he had decided to leave the role after completing just one 13-episode series of the show. The series, which had been off the air in its regular format since 1989, was refreshed and came back only last month in the UK where it has been a critical and ratings smash for the network (Garth's Note: and I'm loving it too!!).
Since then there's been much speculation about who'll be taking over for the second season of the show with the likes of Bill Nighy and Eddie Izzard being brought up. Tennant was however the favourite it seemed and now he's set. His recent credits include the critically-acclaimed drama series "Casanova" and "Blackpool". He'll star alongside Billie Piper who returns as Rose Tyler.
