Who buys/reads a Sunday newspaper?
I do most of my news reading online now, so I buy one but don't depend on it for news.

I'm also looking for a job and I remember how the Sunday Chicago Tribune (which comes out on Saturdays) used to be the jobseekers Bible, but now its all online.

I'd love to buy a Sunday NYT, but its too expensive

6. Hi, maveric!
You might try the LA Times...more liberal and quite interesting...We subscribe to it, and I'll bet you could too...

12. They used to have a San Diego edition but the UT pushed that out of
circulation.
I used to subscribe to the LA Times and my freeper neighbors called me a "traitor" for it. This was ten years ago.

How's Peggy doing today? Is the weather as nice there as it is here?

13. Hey maveric...Nice as always to hear from you!
I am doing GREAT! Had a great workout at the gym this AM; first time I could go on a Sunday since I retired...Always worked Sundays before. This is a treat for me...Now I can go every other day, which is ideal for me. The weather here is incredibly wonderful...warm, sunny, clear blue skies...My jacaranda tree is just starting to bloom. I think this year will be it's best year so far.

So your freeper neighbors called YOU a traitor! That's a good one...seems to me that they might well be called that! The LAT has grown in stature; they keep winning Pulitzer prizes for their articles. They PULL NO PUNCHES!

I need to get in the shower, and get this sweat off me! Later, my dear maveric!

Forgive me for forgetting to ask: And how are YOU today? Any surfing plans?

4. Hi there, undeterred!
I guess me and my husband are old-fashioned, but we've ALWAYS had a Sunday paper...We like it for some obscure news things you can't find anywhere else, and of course, for me: the comics pages! I'm still a kid at heart, and I love'em! Book reviews, also...We subscribe to the L A Times, so it's not as expensive as buying it off a newsstand. I love to sit down after breakfast, and read it while drinking my morning coffee...A very pleasant habit, IMHO...

7. Hi CaliforniaPeggy! Its nice to have a habit like that
:hi:

Back in the eighties Sunday mornings were: Chicago Tribune, New York Times, bagels, coffee, classical music or jazz...

Hands off the crossword puzzle, that's mine!

5. My "news" paper has no news
Front page: A 25-year-old news story about Mt. St. Helens.

Inside: A column by the so-called "public editor" about how readers want more national and international news.

The rest is tired commentary on the local art scene and the high society page.

For living in such a liberal town, we sure have a shitty newspaper.

11. Seattle Times?
I haven't even seen the cover story yet, but I can almost bet that is what you are talking about.

ST is so lame, I can do a Sunday paper cover to cover in less than 35 minutes.

Meanwhile, I like LA Times and NY Times, and the Washington Post, which I read online. When I am in those cities, I buy those papers when I have free time, each is worth a couple of hours reading.

The Oregonian.

I'm with you on the SeaTimes, though.

The Northwest deserves a better national newspaper.

on edit:

Since you mentioned it, this also hits on something else that really bugs me.

The Oregonian slavishly plays up every burp and hiccup on Mt. St. Helens and plugs every single anniversary of May 18.

But it's in Washington. And you can have it! It's yours, Washington!

8. I used to have the Sunday edition of the Minneapolis StarTribune
mailed to me after we moved away. I usually got in on Wednesday, which takes a smidgen of the fun out of reading it.

I don't take it anymore, but sometimes I wish I did.

I only occasionally buy a Sunday Idaho Statesman. It's no StarTribune.

9. We got the Sunday paper as our Sunday ritual
We would make pancakes or whatever and sit and read the paper. After the Cleveland Plain Dealer's Publisher decided to endorse chimp even after the editorial staff voted for Kerry 5-2, we haven't bought a paper since. Just heard the CPD circulation is down significantly

16. I buy the Sunday globe
The rest of my time I get my news online or via NPR.

Getting the Sunday paper gives me an excuse to go for a walk and I enjoy just sitting aside with a hard copy paper and reading it lesiurly. It's the only news I read on Sunday.
