The radio career of "K-Rock" personality Lee Mroszak, known as "Crazy Cabbie," will soon be silenced after a federal judge in Brooklyn sentenced him Friday to a year in prison for not filing federal tax returns.
Mroszak, 35, an ex-paratrooper who served in the first Gulf War, will have about eight or nine weeks before he must begin serving his time, said defense attorney Dominic Barbara.
U.S. District Judge John Gleeson could have sentenced Mroszak, a DJ for WXRK/92.3, to up to 18 months under federal sentencing guidelines but gave him the lower end of the range. Last year Mroszak admitted on the Howard Stern radio program that he didn't file tax returns for a three-year period beginning in 2001. IRS agents heard the remarks and began an investigation.
