How do I program my VCR to record from 1 to 3 am when DST is ending?
I'm scratching my silly little head over this one. I have my VCR set to record from 1 am to 3 am Sunday morning. But at 2 am, the time goes back to 1 am...so what will happen to my taping?

Boy do I feel dumb.

1. Depends on the VCR
The VCR should record until it's time is equal to the pre-programmed end-recording time.
The question that does remain is the way you VCR's clock is set: uses it a time signal or do you have to set it manually?

4. the VCR won't know. just start taping at 1 and have it quit...
the appropriate amount of time later. then wake up and reset your VCR clock in the morning.

5. The actual question is how is the tv network handling the time change
They seem to vary. As mentioned above, if the programming starts at 1 and goes for two hours, the VCR doesn't care that there's a time change. It'll just tape for two hours, not caring that 3 am has become 2 am.

6. Most TV networks start their day at 5 or 6 AM
So between 2-4 AM on the day of the time change, an hour of infomercials gets added/cut usually.

At least thats how they handle it around here...

7. I taped for 3 hours instead of 2
I figured the network had to add an extra hour of programming somewhere in there...turns out they did, at the beginning, i.e., from 1 to 2 am. Or should I say, the FIRST 1 to 2 am...so if I had just left my VCR as it was, I would have missed the second hour of what I was trying to tape.

However, if my VCR changed from daylight to standard time automatically, like my computer, I guess it would have taped three hours even though I had it programmed for two.

Thanks for everyone's insights. It's funny that the various TV guides (paper and on-line) don't account for that extra hour at all.
