i used to be in such good shape..
I used to be a triathlete, mountain biker, etc.. was really buff with a 6-pack and rippling muscles everywhere..


now i'm fat and depressed and unhappy..

commiserate with me!!

or tell me to STFU!

i'm going to eat something.. :donut:

1. You should join an Aerobics class
I used to be fat and ugly also.

However, I have lost 25 lbs so far since June. That's because I was in an Aerobics class.

Get out, kick up those endorphin neurotransmitters. It will make you feel happy and elated.

i didn't say i was ugly!!

and i can't do impact stuff i have bad knees/hips from all the running i used to do in triathlon training. i'm just gonna walk probably and atkins for a while.


my job is physical and i have no energy when i get home either..

3. I would watch out for the Atkins diet
Sure, the results are there. However, I wouldn't want Kidney Stones. Too much protein can do that to you.

If you are going to do it, I would add more fiber to the diet.

4. I feel your pain
I am not fat though since I am only gained a little back from my July digestive problem after I had been slowing losing weight. I am out of shape though. I used to be a good runner. I have tried to start running again several times, but I soon give up. I know that I cannot expect to be as good as I was before instantly but I can barely jog a mile. I can't really run like I used to for any length of time. I start running and start to feel tired and say "I really suck. What's the point?' Strangely, I have gotten remarkably strong these past couple years without even trying. Weight training in track was hell for me. I could barely bench the 45 pound bar, but now with only occaisional work related lifting, I can carry sixty pounds easily and lift about eighty. Maybe, I do have a lot of athletic potential at this point in my life, being 25. I was going to apply for an assistant track coach position at a local high school to get myself motivated but I chickened out.
If there is not a medical reason not to exercise, start slow and try not to be too hard on yourself. This is advice that I need to follow.

5. i never do atkins more than 6 weeks
the funny thing is i have 3+ years towards a degree in exercise physiology.


you have to make sure and stay hydrated on atkins to keep your kidneys flushed out. other than that it really isn't bad after the initial few days of carb cravings.

until I got into my thirties and finally accepted the fact that it wasn't going to go away (it didn't hurt to end up marrying a guy who actually enjoyed a rounder, more ample figure).

I have learned to see myself for what I am: a perfectly proportioned Venus.

To be precise, a Venus of Willendorf. But a goddess nonetheless! :)
