I played a little joke on my cat and now he hates me

I bought a "Misty Mate" for a soldier in Iraq - they're small pump things that spray a fine mist of water to counteract the effect of humidity. I thought, well, I should get one too - I live in Texas and I hate humidty. So I got it home and filled it with water and followed the directions, pumping away. Then I opened the small valve on the skinny hose. It's really quite nice - sprays an ultra-fine water mist. So my cat Clancy is nosing around, like cats are prone to do, wanting to know what I was so interested in. I pointed the nozzle at him and opened the valve JUST A TAD - the mist was so fine I could barely see it - but the effect was catastrophic. Ears back and eyes bulging, Clancy, my normally laid back kitty, hissed at me FIVE TIMES IN A ROW and took off.

I followed him around going COME ON CLANCY IT WAS JUST A JOKE but he kept glaring at me like I was the certified devil. That was three days ago and Clancy is still giving me the evil eye. :(

4. You know, they recommend using a squirt

bottle to train cats to stay out of things they are not supposed to be in. We use it occasionally on our cat when he gets into things he's not supposed to. It is actually working. He doesn't get on the table anymore.

If that same sort of thing happened in my household, my cat would become mortal enemies with "Misty Mate," unable to make the connection between the inanimate object and me, the person using the inanimate object.

Then never mess with the cat. He will wait till you least expect it. And then he will extract revenge. Like usedtobesick said, don't go to sleep. He'll sit on your face. Oops, that sounds racy, lol. I crack myself up sometimes.
