1. fan
I'd rather that fan give the money to some poor family who is out of work. It would do so much more good. But, it is his money and I have no right to tell him how to spend it. I have never been a pessimist but this morning pessimism is creeping in.

2. How do you know he doesn't?
So do all folks have to give their money to poor people... I'm thinking of buying a big screen TV..Should I forgo that and give the money away to the poor instead?...Please... I'm sick and tired of these "The Money should be given to the poor" quips....

No, I am not one of those who say rich should give to the poor. Go ahead and buy whatever you want. I said it was not my business. I was making a statement, that is all. You have your opinion--I have mine, and I am not attacking you for attacking me. Attacking people for having an opinion not of your liking is counter-productive.

4. An your opinion in my HOP is dreadfully woeful!
That's the one thing that bugs me about the great DU... Folks post something like I posted and someone has to hop on and make a benign social statement just to make a er...benign social statement... Do we have to tie everything that happens in this world in a social context 24x7?

11. That was an "attack"???
ajsr, you know not what an attack is like.
I could attack you, just for illustration's sake, if you'd like to REALLY experience an "attack"...Let me know, OK?

You stated your opinion, he stated his. No threats were implied, no profanity was used, and you consider yourself attacked. OK, that's your opinion.

Anyway, almost 17 kilobucks to take out an ad. And I thought Cocaine was god's way of telling you you have too much money....:7

5. LOL
Wannstedt definitely needs to go! I put him higher on my shit list than Fiedler.

I just can't stand to watch any more of this. These two losses at home were disgraceful. One thing we could usually count on was the Dolphins choking late. This year, the meltdown is coming a few weeks early.

I think that's the link to the advertisement. If you'd like an actual copy of the paper, I may be able to secure Friday's Herald Sports Section.

7. Who is his audience?
Spending that kind of dough makes me wonder if the young man couldn't buy a minority interest in the Fins (and IIRC, this is a family owned team?)...

Joe Robbie used to own the team, but Wayne Huizenga is now the principle owner.

12. people need to get a life if sports means that much to them

be offended, i don't give a shit.

if my home team won the world series/superbowl/milkyway championship every year for the rest of my life it would affect me in exactly ZERO ways.

like football? go play some...

16. Well I'm a sports fan
And I agree with Wanny. Its a stupid waste of money.

Nothing worse than some slob who has never coached a play in his life to tell a professional his business.

Arm-chair coaches and wanna-be GM's make lousy fans. If the dolphins make the SB, these gripers would find something else to fill their diapers with

17. Oh Please...Wanny's 75 and 75 as a head coach in the NFL
so just because he's a er...Professional he's beyond reproach? If Fans didn't voice their complaints and the media didn't write about it then things stay as they are...

I run the page firedavewannstedt.com ... Are you telling me I can't criticize the Coach in this manner because I've never been a Coach?... Dude..I better not see you criticize the Chimp in any thread here because I'm gonna slap you for being a slob who's never been a politician and who has the gall to tell a PROFESSIONAL POLITICIAN what to do.... Arm-Chair politicos make lousy DU'ers ...Ya think?

18. i have many hobbies
that goes under things that i DO ... i'm not a boring person by any means. i just find sitting on a couch watching people play a game to be incredibly boring..

the point i was making is that there really isn't any reason to care whether one team wins or another. i used to watch auto racing, live and/or on TV and i just watched, i didn't really care who won i just liked watching the skill of the drivers (not nascar lol) same goes with sports that i've watched.. who really cares if cleveland or memphis or whoever wins..

You could certainly make an argument that it matters in an economic sense, a consistently winning team would draw more fans, support more jobs etc. in a given city. I highly doubt that's what most fans are thinking of when they scream and yell about someone hitting a homer or a touchdown or whatever.

explain to me why i should root for the "home team" or any team for that matter. i really am interested becaue i just don't get it.

23. Let me get this straight
You're comparing a politician of a country with a coach of a sport. Could you realistically elaborate on that? Football is like, war?

24. You obviously missed the parrellel
You don't have to be a coach to critize a coach was his point, he was also saying that you don't have to be a politician to critize a politician.

26. I think Wannstedt is a fine coach
I would start Brian Griese and bench Fielder. My point, or his point is you don't have to be an NFL coach to critize a NFL coach.

27. His point is the guy should be fired, no?
That to me is beyond criticism.I really dont care either way, I'm a Packer fan. Fire the winning coach, bring in a loser, what do I care?

I think it should be pointed out that parity rules the day in the NFL. Only 2 teams make it to the SB, and there are no more dynasties. Wanny has just as much chance as anybody, I suppose. More than any new guy for sure

Color me naive, (hey I'm a packer fan), but you dont call for a coaches head that gets you into the post season 2 years running

I wouldn't fire him, but any fan has every right to critize or ask him to be fired.

29. yes, but then, what if the Fins make the SB this year?
is this truly something these "fans" want? Think about that for a minute.

Its a creditability issue. What are these guys gonna do if the Dolphins win it all in the AFC?
Then again, the greater likelihood is they may not, and they can sit around beat their chest and say "I told you so!'

Creditability is like a good head of hair, you cant get it back once you lose it.

I dont find this sort of fan behavior productive at all

20. Wannstedt hasn't gotten us past the 2nd Round
He took over a good team and has gotten progressively worse. I'll spare you the statistics, as Trumad has done a fine job at his site of supplying them.

Wannstedt has that conservative coaching attitude where it seems like he's consistently afraid of failure.

21. I understand your pain!
I was a Bears fan up to the time Wanstadt took them down the toilet with the help of the owners... I'm seriously thinking he's a menace to football. I admit freely, I was a big Ditka fan (Da Coach!) but Wanstadt was SO awful it wasn't even fair!

I think I hit the breaking point with him when he was interviewed and he was talkng about some touchy-feely program he was using with the team. GACK! This is FOOTBALL for pete's sake! Papa Bear must have been spinning in his grave!

Hang tough--yo0u'll see him go when the attendence drops off at the stadium.

30. What I'm dealing here is a bunch of folks who haven't a clue
what they're talking about.., fishnfla you in particular... I know the history of Wanny as well as anyone and I know that Wanny is leading the Phins in the same direction as the Bear when he coached them... Dude...he's 75 and 75 and a head coach! He went 9 and 7 last year after posting to back to back 11-5 seasons... And he posted those winning seasons because of the residual effect of Jimmy Johnson... Sure..if the Phins go to the SB then I was wrong in my assesment... But I'm not going to be wrong... WHY...because I know the subject that I am opinionating on unlike fishnfla who's just specualting just to speculate.... I'll tell you what fishnfla...Let's touch on this again in December during the playoffs and we'll see who knows what...
