A friend of my dad uses it as his standard good-bye and every time he says it I instantly break down laughing.

2. My common-sense filled best friend died last year.

He'd always pull some strange phrase. A white guy himself, he worked for a prominent black man. "I'd do the same for white guy."

Only he could get away with such deadpan deliveries.

That boss could not gush enough about him at his funeral. To the rest of his family he was just eccentric. But, for me, he was nothing less than real.

As lung cancer slowly drained the last remnants of life from his small frame, he smiled as he died. Nothing could be done about the rigor mortis smile, so his family had to cremate him. I hope you're laughing. It's what keeps his memory alive.

If you laugh at your dad's friend's antics, please keep laughing. And, by all means, don't let your meat loaf.

3. Not until today

And the mental picture I came up with was MeatLoaf as Eddie in Rocky Horror, on his motorcycle. Why, I don't know. But thanks a million for the laugh!
