best bitchy tell off songs.
you know, the kind of song that you'd put on a mixtape titled "fuck off, and oh, by the way, i want those cds i loaned you back."

my vote for the absolute best:
bob dylan - "positively 4th street" (i think. it's the one that begins "you got a lotta nerve...")

yours?

1. the Residents, "Blue Rosebuds"

"Your words are empty hollow bleatings
Of a mental crutch.
They're open festered indigestion
With a velvet touch
An ether eating Eskimo
Would gag upon your sight,
Convulsed into oblivion
from laughter or from fright.

A coma with a sweet aroma
Is your only dream,
Malignant with the
misconception
That a grunt can gleam.
Your lichen covered corpuscles
Are filthy as a fist.
Infection is your finest flower
Mildewed in the mist."

3. that's a great one...
I love the 60s garage song "Little Girl" - I think it was by the Music Machine. It has lines like "It's OK little girl, you ain't done nothin' new; you went out on me, so? other girls did it too" and then the most sarcastic laughter ever recorded.
Another candidate would be "I've Had Her" by Phil Ochs. "I've had her, I've had her, she's nothing."
Aw man there must be dozens of em. "Never Existed" by the Basement Wall, "It's Your Time" by the Weeds, "He's Waitin'" by the Sonics, and on and on.
And then there's "Over You" by Paul Revere and the Raiders, in which the singer promises to kill his girlfriend if she breaks up with him!! "There's gonna be a lot of slow, slow walking, there's gonna be a lot of sad, sad talking OVER YOU!" Downright creepy.

12. Bratmobile's "love thing"
quality riotgrrl break-up song ;-):

Admit it- innocent little girls
turn you on don't they?
you like to make them cry
you like to tell them why
you like to grow them up
swallow hard + throw them up
i would die to hate you
see my heart in my hand
do you really understand
get my heart off yer hand
get yer hand off my heart
i would die to hate you
but it's a LOVE thing
you say you got this LOVE thing
you think it's just a LOVE thing
Fuck yer fuckin LOVE thing
by the way, yer bright eyes are not so encouraging
you want my youth so bad
you love to see me sad
all the sunlight that you say
can never make it go away
i would DIE to not care anymore

15. I'm not a big fan of popular music
But "Fuck it" by Eamon is the best bad-breakup song I've heard in years.

I love how it starts off like another sappy R&B song, until the chorus reminds you this isn't a happy tune.

16. Just thought of another
An absolutely incredible song "You Cannot Make Me Cry" by the Cavaliers.
The chorus:
I thought that I loved you
I'm glad that it's not true
Now I know better
Go away!

this song is ultra-obscure but it's one of my absolute favorites. Eerie, minor-key vocal harmony sung by Dutch guys who clearly have major issues with the English language. But they turned out a classic!

21. Harry Nilsson -- "You're Breakin' My Heart"...
You’re breakin’ my heart,
You’re tearing it apart,
So fuck you.

All I want to do is have a good time, now I’m blue.
You won’t boogaloo,
Run down to Tramps, have a dance or two, ooohhh.
You’re breakin’ my heart,
You’re tearing it apart,
But fuck you.

You’re breakin’ my heart,
You’re tearing it apart, boo-hoo!

You stepped on my ass,
You’re breakin’ my glasses, too.
You won’t drive my car, might be a star,
I’ve had enough of you.
I’m goin’ insane
There’s no one to blame,
So fuck you.

(Instrumental break #1)

You can’t have your way,
There’s nothing left to say,
There’s nothing left to do, ooooohhh.
You’re breakin’ my heart,
You’re tearing it apart,
So fuck you.

(Instrumental break #2)

You gotta have your way,
There’s nothing left to say,
There’s nothing left to do, ooooowww.
You’re breakin’ my heart,
You’re tearing it apart, but I love you...

22. "Baby Bitch," by Ween.
Absolutely beautiful melody and arrangement. The lyrics... well, judge for yourself:

It's been a while since I've seen you smile
But now you've come back again
Came into the room and you saw my girl
And you asked her how long it's been
"A year" she said and you shook your head
Said "I'm surprised it's gone on that long"

Baby, Baby, Baby Bitch
For words I am at a loss
Baby, Baby, Baby Bitch
I'm better now please fuck off

What else you gonna say when while you're back
on your stay
Maybe something, maybe nothing, we'll see
It's just too bad, you're beautiful I guess
I wasn't for you and you weren't for me

Baby, Baby, Baby Bitch
Please slip back into yourself
Baby, Baby, Baby Bitch
Go conquer someone else

People say, "How beautiful, how sweet, how kind"
You're perfect, you've got nothing to hide
But I, for one, have seen the sun
And the bitch that you've locked up inside

Got fat, got angry, started hating myself
Wrote "Birthday Boy" for you babe
Now I'm skinny and sick and paranoid
Without a cent to my name

Baby, Baby, Baby Bitch
Fuck you, you stinkin' ass ho
Most beauty I've seen
you come from a dream
But I can't close my eyes anymore
No, I can't close my eyes anymore

Down In It:

Shut up! So what! What does it matter now,
I was swimming in the haze, now I'm crawling the ground,
and everything I never like about you, is kinda seeping into me
I try to laugh about it now, but isn't it funny how everything works out,
I guess the jokes on me, she said.
I was up above it, I was up above, but now I'm down in it...

So you wanted

Slow it down some and

(And don't forget to give

Wish I hadn't bought you

Right before you dumped me

Give me my money back
Give me my money back
You bitch

And don't forget.

YVONNE FAIR was an artist I first heard back in the early 80's. She was a protegee of James Brown and she was a pissed off screaming woman!! She did an album at Motown titled The Bitch is Black and on it was a song that was my anthem when I booted my first love out the door...

Go on and walk out the door if you wanna.
I'm gonna march on down to the corner
Drop a dime on a GOOD friend of mine,
I know he make me feel fine...

It is difficult to find since it went our of print, but it is a truly amazing work of cranky PMS laden art!

55. Regretting What I Said...
Words and Music by Christine Lavin/Flip-A-Jig

Intro:
This song is called "Regretting what I said to you when you called me at 11:00 on Friday morning to tell me that 1:00 Friday afternoon you were gonna leave your office, go downstairs, hail a cab, to go out to the airport, to catch a plane, to go skiing in the Alps for two weeks. Not that I wanted to go with you; I wasn't able to leave town, I'm not a very good skier, I couldn't expect you to pay my way, but after going out with you for three years, I don't like surprises.
(And it's subtitled "A Musical Apology". In this song, I attempt to take back everything I said while standing in a phone booth at the corner of 49th and 3rd)

I didn't mean it when I said I hope
The cable in the elevator snaps when you step on board.
And I was joking when I said I hope you crack your head
And get mangled by the downstairs revolving doors.
And I was kidding when I said I hope the Number one-o-three bus
Hits and makes a pancake out of you.
I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
Isn't it amazing what a woman in love will do?

And I really don't want to see your taxi
On the 59th Street Bridge
Flip over and crash through the rail.
And I'd feel bad if at the airport
You were mistaken for a local sex offender,
Arrested, beaten up, and thrown in jail.
And I really don't want to see you getting
Radiation poisoning from the metal detector that all passengers
On foreign and domestic flights must walk through.
I'm sorry, forgive me
For all the mean things I said to you.

You thought I didn't have a temper.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha, surprise!
But I really don't want to see you dismembered
By the marijuana sniffing dogs,
When a simple little nipping would suffice, would suffice.

And I'm sorry that I said I hope
The plane explodes in Mid Air
As it carries you away from me
And I'm sorry that I said
I hope you break both legs
On the mountain while you ski.
And I'm sorry for all the nasty things
I said about your mother
(Even though we both know they're true).
I'm sorry, forgive me,
I'm swallowing my pride,
I'd feel so guilty if you died,
Oh, I'm sorry, but I'm still mad at you.
