Dave Chappelle Checks Into South African Mental Hospital

Barely a week after Comedy Central stopped production on "Chappelle's Show's" third season, comedian Dave Chappelle has checked himself into a psychiatric institution in South Africa.

Sources close to the comedian told Entertainment Weekly that Chappelle flew from Newark, New Jersey to South Africa and voluntarily checked himself into the mental institution on April 28. Presently, there's no word on Chappelle's condition or how long he will remain at the facility.

I know this isn't a popular opinion around here, and I just might flamed for it, but nevertheless!

I can't stand that show, I can't stand Chappelle, and I'd be more than thrilled if the show never returned to Comedy Central.

But on a purely superficial level, I'm sad to see anyone checking themselves into a mental health facility, so I wish him a quick recovery.

I posted an article just last week that the show was delayed due to "partying, stress, and enjoying himself" or something like that. I would guess that he (they) got behind so the "partied" to get it out of their minds (Chapelle and the writing staff or maybe just Chappelle) then the next day they still had missed their deadline so he/they partied to forget about it.....and on and on and on....

It happens to a lot of artists once they hit it big. The pressure to perform becomes enormous. Comedians are esp prone to such mental breakdowns. Belushi, Farley, Pryor, Carlin, and now Chappelle.
