Advice if you are planning a trip to New Orleans

The City Council passed an ordinance recently which prohibits sex in public if the purpose is to draw a crowd. I know that many people come to New Orleans to have sex in public, I've seen it, but I thought a little heads up may keep you out of jail. Unless of course you have no desire to draw a crowd. I guess you could put up a sign or something telling no one to gather at the corner of Bourbon and Orleans at 2:00 in the morning. Just trying to be helpful.

a dumbfuck baptist minister took a video camera down to Southern Decadence and spent hours and hours and hours videotaping the festivities. No doubt, he went home and spent hours and hours and hours reviewing his evidence. The major asshole made a minor stink.

10. I've been going to the Quarter

for the past 15 years and I always have a great time day or night. You can do everything or nothing. And the food is great too. I've never tried the sex in public thing though, however, I've observed many tourists unwinding so to speak. Can't do that back home.

11. I can't either. I don't really want to though. New Orleans is fun

anytime. It's fun watching the people. There are some strange people in this world and it seems like they all go to New Orleans. New Orleans is only a 3 hr. drive from where I live. They also have other fun stuff to do besides party, but partying is FUN there. Never boring, that's for sure.

12. We are less than an hour from the Quarter

We live in Pearl River County. About once a summer my wife and I go to a concert at the House of Blues or just hang out at one of the loud music places in the Quarter and spend the night. Cafe Dumond at midnight, a stroll down Bourbon Street in the early morning hours. A jog along the river at sunrise. Brunch at Pere Antoine's. Check out the antique shops on Royal and see what we can't afford. A stroll through the farmers market to check out the latest in tacky T-shirts. And it never gets old. I think the tourists get strange once they set foot on Bourbon Street. My favorite bar is the Tropical Isle on Bourbon and Orleans and hardly a day goes by when someone pokes their head in and asks the bartender where the French Quarter is. Priceless. "Ya mean we can drink beer in the streets?"

6. If they tell you it is OK to park your car on the street

DON'T DO IT!

Parked in the French Quarter in what was marked as two hour parking when I returned, 20 minutes later $100 dollar fine.

in effect for a few years now. Went to So. Decadence last year (had a blast) but now they allow sex in the gay bars (again)--just as long as it is kept away from public (street) view. Still no cameras are allowed in the bars. If you want to get a little naughty in the streets, do a little nasty (a la blowjobs) discreetly around a heavy crowd of people--don't make it obvious--come up for air every few minutes.
