Anybody familiar with AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition?

My computer probably has every virus invented. I'm looking for spyware and anti-virus system but I'm near paranoid about hitting a download button on something I'm not familiar with. I'm looking for some computer advice. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

1. It's the best free virus program I have tried so far.

I say go for it. It's reputable. I used it, and I had more viruses detected than I knew existed. Get it.

3. I use this one

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp along with Norton (which was a mistake to buy)
It picked up a lot that Norton didn't. I haven't done AVG yet but heard that it was very good. Check out the computer forum here on DU.

Get from there Lavasoft, Spybot, Microsoft AntiSpyware, and a trial download of Spysweeper.

You can also get a trial download of Symantec NIS at www.Symantec.com . Though Symantec does slow up your system I think it's better than most.

6. It is OK

Probably one of the better free scanners with a "shield" function (about the same as antivir).

If you want just a scanner then I'd recommend Bitdefender instead: it is better than AVG by far, but lacks a real-time protection feature.
