SERIOUS tattoo help needed
ok all. i want another tat. have a peace sign on my right shoulder and am DYING to do the left.

sorry to be so demanding/vague but here are my requirements (and i am really serious):

something LIBERAL (music, politics, books, philosophy, etc...) ALL are in play here.

do NOT want it to be "Dem" specific (since many of them don't represent me anymore - i could easily go green, purple, fuschia at a later date)

want a "statement" that requires THOUGHT!

do NOT want text (looking for symbols here (pictures, images, etc...)

want to be CREATIVE

want some COLOR but i'm flexible about that

nothing HUGE, but covering my shoulder blade wouldn't be out of the question.

any thoughts? this is killing me

4. I love dragons
I got a dragon tat on my hip where it's covered unless I'm naked! (even in a bikini it's covered) But I thought of it when I thought that I was born the year of the dragon. & I love animals.. so it seemed cool enough for me not to lose interest in it after time goes by. :)

5. a Buddha
Mr. Dora has a large full-color Buddha on his right bicep. It's awesome! Smiling Buddha is seated on a green sparkle snare drum that's levitating over a lotus flower. I am not saying you should do the same, but I am saying that...

BUDDHA ROCKS!

8. How about a puking Dragon?
Sure plenty of people have a FIRE BREATHING Dragon have you ever seen anyone with a PUKING Dragon? I think not.

OR

You could get one like the women who my best friends ex-girlfriend and her friend ran into when they went to get belly rings. The woman was very proud to show them the drawing of the tattoo she was going to get, it had been drawn by a friend of her's, and it was her ultimate fantasy...

I got it in henna once and really liked it:

Or a Hindu symbol, the Om, which represents spiritual perfection:

10. Running Horse
Always at the top of my list if I were to get another, due to it's simplicity of form.

Here's the original ink by Phil Hartman:

14. Tatts are highly personal
Why are you asking us, dude?

You should be looking for something you can live with for the rest of your life. Use yahoo's picture search and see what you can come up with.

Like we know what you want on your arm....

If it were me, i'd get another boognish but one is enough already.

20. I've been trying to think of something since I posted my smartass one...
And nothing I really think of would stand the test of time, unless you did some sort of Asian character like I think someone else mentioned above.

Edited on Thu May-12-05 01:16 PM by VelmaD
it's easy to be a snark but much more difficult to come up with an actual idea. I think Asian characters are pretty but only meaningful if Asian culture is somehow a part of your life.

All I got is maybe something with little Grateful Dead bears. :)

26. Find a tattoo artist whose style you like.
Talk to him/her about it. After all- that is who will be drawing the work and pushing the needle. If they are truly good (and why settle for anything less?) then they should be thrilled to help you come up with a design.

Just my 2c!

well, that symbol site says this is a "mystical almond", but I think that Freud would disagree :)
