Laugh All You Want... I'm Not Ashamed To Admit It. --- E.R. Grosses Me Out

Even at 43 years of age, I cannot handle any kind of blood. Fake blood, animal blood, my OWN blood... Even the special effects of ER's SPEWING blood, dripping blood, gaping wounds are just too OVER-THE-TOP for me.

I'll literally hide my face behind a pillow when I suspect that blood (OR NEEDLES) are about to be shown. Sometimes they catch me by surprise, and I'll "yelp" my disgust (causing my partner to laugh at me for being so squeamish) and immediately close my eyes.

Doctoring my own wound? Forget it. Pulling my own splinter? NO WAY! Hand me the barfy-bag please. I'm lucky to be able to get a Band-Aid on a paper cut.

Saving Private Ryan? Band Of Brothers? --- Almost too much for me. But now that I know when and where the grossest parts are, I can look away or close my eyes on cue... and still enjoy both of them.

Surely this can't be normal. I react to these things like an old lady... or a little child. I've been this way all my life and I'm guessing that I won't be outgrowing it.

1. I thought I was going to hyperventilate and die

during the first 20 minutes of "Saving Private Ryan." When I was a kid, I cut my knee on some broken glass, and when I saw the blood I fainted.

It's probably not normal, but it happens to me, too.
