Question: What good is spyware blocker?
The one I have (Earthlink) keeps a running tab of spyware but doesn't block it. I can get rid if spyware manually (takes 1/2 hr.) but as soon as I log on again the spyware is back. The whole thing seems pointless to me.

1. Install the TeaTimer utility that comes with Spybot Search + Destroy
www.safer-networking.org

It'll prevent any registry changes made by your browser, or any other software without your permission

2. Also install...
SpywareBlaster. In combination with Spybot's "Immunization" utility, you have a very effective one-two punch against spyware.

6. No.
It will simply block the installation of spyware very effectively.

5. Thats because their blocker is garbage......
Get the one from Webroot, its payware for the subscription but well worth the dough. It runs in real time blocking nearly all Spyware before it hits the hardrive. There are updates almost daily to the "definitions" list. I started running it over a year ago and see almost no Spyware. Spyware can trash your computer worse IMO than many of the virus that are spread. Unlike a virus Spyware is spread slightly never really making the news with its destructive effects.

7. On a local computer radio show...
They were raving about a product called "Counter Spy"

I have it on my home PC and I will say that it found quite a bit of spyware that spyware blaster & my yahoo & aol tools did not get before it.
