Is the Government hiding ET evidence?
I was just watching the Sci-Fi channel...and they had something on Kecksburg, PA.

Apparently an object landed in the wounds back on Dec 9, 1965 there. One reporter who was there at the crash site, before the military came storming in later, was killed a couple of years later in a hit and run accident after being threatened the day after the incident by the government...having his camera confiscated of the object.

The object reportedly, had some control landing in the woods. That would mean it wasn't debris or a small meteor.

Anyhow, the case was pretty strong I thought in this show that the government was hiding something. One report had a younger man at the time, 19 or so, that he heard a screaming sound twice, but it didn't sound human.

Anyhow, the show is re-airing on sci-fi now...20 minutes in to the 2 hour show.

worth a look.

So really now, is the government hiding something and should the people know what they're covering up? Could the current government be being controlled by outside forces?

Discuss.

3. I thought it was interesting, so make fun of me.
I have a couple of degrees, pretty bright, and I find it fascinating. I would be more surprised if we someday learned we were in the universe alone. Ok, go ahead.

...I've seen some episodes of that show and I think it is interesting too, but in a humorous sort of way. It's just that I have a hard time believing that the government has its act together enough to maintain a conspiracy of such massive proportions.

I also think that it is likely that intelligent life is out there, but I am skeptical that earth is much of a tourist destination.

8. I know what you mean.
I am not a "believer", just someone who thinks there is more than we know. It is not something that one is supposed to say. I know you did not mean criticism.

I have always found the subject interesting. Don't know why.

23. nyah nyah
i know me too =) well im not really that bright though heh.

but curious as hell...

because when 1 person says something it can be dubious. when 20 people say something, from all walks of life,
and they dont even know each other.. then you gotta wonder.

hmm.. anyways. i think...
if the govt is hiding anything, mostly its just the fact that they have no control over this - whatever it is!

the nature of the "mass-sightings" prove this, at least to me.
(the scrambling of jets, intrusions on restricted airspace, random nature, no apparent "objective" and such traits)

5. The same government that...
couldn't keep Watergate a secret for 2 weeks...
Couldn't keep the atom bomb a secret for 3 years...
couldn't keep Bush's order to not leak any secrets a secret for 10 minutes...

Has managed to keep the wreckage from 3 or more alien crashes a secret for 50+ years?

On Edit
Correction: not Gulfport, Gulfbreeze, in Florida. Sorry about that. Get the two mixed up, one is in MS.
In Gulfport. They have changed. They no longer trust their own instincts on anything.

What really was odd was the mention of the men who oversaw the clean-up, in overcoats. I did not know that a query was launched by government and military agencies to find out who the "men in black" (their quotes) were who appeared and intimidated witnesses.

Our own military branches were not aware who they were.

15. And did you see the model?
The one used by the photographer to fake the photos?

(How come, with all the improvements in cameras and such, there are fewer photo's taken today of 'UFOs' than in the 1950's?)

10. The same government that...
...kept radiation experiments on institutionalized children secret?
...kept bio-warfare experiments on civilian populations secret?
...kept MK-Ultra projects mostly secret through an official policy of dismissive ridicule?

Nahhh, not them...

16. Let's see...
Is the radiation experiments on children still secret? No.
Are the bio warfare experements still secret? No.

Thank you for providing two new examples.

I leave out MK-Ultra because it has been shown that many of the key documents are forgeries...BUT it isn't very secret if you know about them!

17. Isn't it a circular argument though?
If the government is able to keep secrets well, then we wouldn't know, because they keep secrets really well, but if we know of some secrets then they don't keep any secrets well. So if we present any evidence of well kept secrets, then the government doesn't keep secrets well. But what if the government does have very carefully kept secrets that we still don't know about. We have no proof that these secrets exist so how can we make the judgement that the government doesn't keep secrets well?

my head hurts...

20. Mine, too.
Of course, one could argue that the fact that the mainstream doesn't know about these things proves the conspiracy also...

Yes, it could be a circular arguement, just like the other circles found in the literature: 'The fact the government denies it proves it exists'. Or, if you prefer one more topical: The fact that Iraq denies it has WMDs (and that the UN inspectors can't find them) is just proof that they have them.

The location is somewhere just a little south of Des Moines. They have the evidence stored in a large Tupperware container upon which they have written graffiti taunting Wittgenstein and Søren Aabye Kierkegaard.

18. Interesting choices
You would probably need the tools of Wittgenstein to taunt Wittgenstein.

Hey, that's recursive!

9. My Own Cynical Explanation
My own cynical explanation is that the federal government is aware of landings by extra-terrestrials and has communicated with them. Unfortunately for the various Republican administrations, the ETs are not only humanoid but have governments with social democratic policies, which is most assuredly not a fact that "conservatives" want to get out to the general public. <g>

11. NO! And If they were, I TOTALLY WOULDN'T CARE!
Like, how would it matter to me in any way? It would still be FAR less important than the real secrets the gov't keeps about Iraq, JFK, 9-11, etc.

Little green men is a legend that the government encourages to keep people from looking into the real crapola the gov't is hiding.

Perfect example - Art Bell. Never, ever, speculates about Bush involvement in 9-11 or CIA lies RE Iraq. Funny that a person who suspects the gov't of hiding ETs wouldn't tend to be suspicious of them otherwise - Unless the whole show was just another gov't tool...

12. I saw that show tonight
it's intriguing to me, too, that after Murphy was killed in the hit and run, ALL of his notes, papers, tapes, records, everything simply disappeared. That part really makes me wonder. Makes his death seem more like a cold-blooded assassination.

14. Yep. That was creepy. The men in suits were seen talking to him.
Then he lost interest, the report was edited, and then he got killed. It was an interesting show, no matter what one's views might be.

Too much there to be totally discounted.

13. I don't doubt that something crashed
But I do doubt that it was a UFO. In the mid 60's technology was advancing so quickly that the Pentagon had no idea what the war of the future would look like, and they were trying out all kinds of new technologies...high altitude rocket fighters, various types of high speed, low visibility spy planes, external combustion rockets...all kinds of stuff they didn't want us to know about, but felt was important to the future security of this country. Heck, it could have even been some kind of early spy satellite launched from Vandenburg that failed to make orbit...or a Soviet satellite that did the same.

There are a lot of perfectly plausible reasons why something could have crashed and warranted a coverup that have NOTHING to do with aliens. Eliminate the obvious before moving on to the fantastic :)

19. I agree
I also have a problem with the idea that aliens, able to warp the very fabric of space enough to move unimaginable distances at speeds great enough to make space travel feasible, need help from our government to keep their existance secret.

If aliens were visiting from other systems, and wanted to go unnoticed, they would. The definitely wouldn't be crashing with the regularity they appear to be.

21. I used to,
but, an this will sound really stupid, changed my mind after watching the X-Files. Like Fox Mulder, I became pretty skeptical of the whole thing. I think the government is covering stuff up, but it is their own deviousness, not aliens from outer space. I think that there is life on other planets, but I don't believe that they have visited us. Why would they?
