'Dennis Miller' Cancelled
http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/cnbc/cnbc_expanding_biz_day_programming_into_primetime_dennis_miller_cancelled_new_7pm_program_to_premiere_in_q3_21445.asp

There are three headlines in the memo below, which was sent to CNBC employees at 5:02pm today.

> CNBC's 9pm talk show Dennis Miller will cease to exist on Friday, May 13. A repeat of Mad Money will air in its place.

> CNBC is expanding its Business Day programming: A new business program -- details TBA -- will premiere at 7pm sometime in Q3.

> Business-related programming will air on CNBC up until 10pm ET/7pm PT, so people across the country will have access to business news during their business day -- a significant shift from the "work hard, play hard" philosophy of airing Conan repeats at 7pm ET.

and he can't do interviews. What's left? Weatherman at a local station in some two-bit city? Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

Blitzer to host 'wide open' CNN stretch

By Paul J. Gough
NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - CNN will debut a three-hour, late-afternoon show hosted by Wolf Blitzer that will replace "Crossfire" and "Inside Politics" sometime this summer.

The show, which does not yet have a name, will run from 3-6 p.m. ET. Blitzer, who already hosts two hours weekdays (noon-1 p.m. ET and 5-6 p.m. ET) and "Wolf Blitzer Reports" on Sundays, will be the primary host.

Details have yet to be worked out, but Jon Klein, president of CNN/US, said Tuesday that it would showcase the network's reporting and analytical assets with a special focus on breaking news.

"It will offer a new and enticing way to look at the world for busy people," Klein said.

Klein, along with Washington bureau chief David Bohrman and senior executive producer for political coverage Sam Feist, have been assembling a plan for a world without "Crossfire." That became a world without "Inside Politics," too, after Judy Woodruff said she would leave the channel in June.

"There are some really interesting ideas that our political units have come up with for framing our coverage of politics today: the bloggers, the evangelicals, the homeland security vote, market research -- all of the elements that go into the waging of politics today," Klein said.

(More - - if you can stand it... )

First they came for Henry Kissinger's appointment to the 9/11 Commission and I said nothing because I wasn't a war criminal trying to fix facts.

Then they came after Bernard Kerik and I said nothing because I wasn't an adulterous, dishonest, thug.

Then they went after Tom DeLay and I said nothing because I wasn't a corrupt standover man with a penchant for taking bribes.

Then they went after John Bolton and I said nothing because I wasn't a psychotic unilateralist who made unwarranted threats against people.

And when they finally came for Dennis Miller I said nothing because I wasn't a fickle, unfunny asshole who couldn't outrate a cheese sandwich.

Edited on Wed May-11-05 11:31 PM by Hissyspit
As I've posted before and below, Miller was on The Tonight Show and criticized war journalists for interfering with the U.S. military in Iraq or Afghanistan (I forget which) so they could have something to talk about at cocktail parties. A record number of journalists have been killed in Iraq and around the world. He said this while IN HOLLYWOOD.
What an ass. He can burn in hell for all I care. Ideological line? Are you kidding?
He spread ignorance. I will ALWAYS fight ignorance.
He goes on national media and supports people who are getting people killed. What ideology?

61. yeah, i should love a guy who celebrates prisoner abuse
save your whining for hannity, mr plant

he's a prick who changed his views overnight to save his career. he called on GOP supporters to beat up here are some more examples of the scumbag at work:

Dennis Miller on Abu Ghraib:

MILLER: Critics of the president's speech have pointed out that he repeatedly mispronounced the name "Abu Ghraib prison." Hey, I'll worry about how the president says "Abu Ghraib" when someone in the Arab world learns to pronounce the word "democracy," OK? <6/4/04>

MILLER: And President Bush fell off his bicycle over the weekend at his Texas ranch. He wasn't seriously hurt, but he was somewhat humiliated when Private Lynndie England appeared from behind a shrub, pointed at him, and began laughing. <6/4/04>

MILLER: I'm sorry, those pictures from the Abu Ghraib. At first they, like, infuriated me, I was sad. Then like, a couple days later, after they cut the guy's head off, they didn't seem like much. And now, I like to trade them with friends. <6/8/04>

MILLER: Forbes magazine has named Mel Gibson this year's most powerful celebrity. ... Forbes' least powerful celebrity? You're looking at him. Screw this guy. ... bad guy. <6/22/04>

Dennis Miller on justice:

MILLER: Teresa Lewis, the only woman on death row in Virginia, says she doesn't deserve the death penalty because she only hired the killers of her husband and stepson, she didn't actually pull the trigger herself. You know, she has a point. I think we should let her be able to hire the person who executes her, and not do yourself in! How's that, doll? Yeah! Get it over with quick, maybe Charlize Theron will sign up to play you. <6/16/04>

MILLER: A juror named Justin Falconer -- what is this idiot about? He was dismissed from the Scott Peterson trial Wednesday, said the prosecution had yet to prove how or why Peterson would have killed his wife. Peterson then killed Falconer. I can only wish. Actually, this asshole 28-year old airport security screener told reporters he would not have found Scott Peterson guilty. <6/24/04>

MILLER: Officials in Los Angeles are vowing to bring to justice any police officers who broke the law during -- Yeah! Get him! -- ooh, sorry, who broke the law during the beating of a suspected car thief. <6/25/04>

Dennis Miller on Iraqis:

MILLER: A new poll of Iraqis shows that more than half of them believe they would be safer if U.S. troops left their country. In a related story, more than half of Americans believe we would be safer if Iraqis stopped answering poll questions and helped us get their damn lights back on, OK? I love that story, a poll of Iraqis want us to leave. <6/18/04>

MILLER: The Pentagon admitted the Iraqi was never given an identification number and that the Red Cross was never notified about his capture. However, Donald Rumsfeld claims the prisoner has been treated in accordance with Geneva Conventions, including regular conjugal visits with his favorite goat. <6/18/04>

And I am super-pissed off. Mainstream-media right-wing enablers like Miller (feeble as he is) need to be exposed for what they are, and shown the door with all haste.

In light of this clear and present danger, the time for taking the high road is long over.

Mr. Miller was from Pittsburgh so as Chuck Noll from the Steelers would say whenever axing a useless player: "It was high time for him to get on with his life's work." Whatever that might be in Dennis's case: Ginsu knife hawking on infomercials at 3:00 a.m., AnnTHRAX Coulter's chauffer, Rush Limbaugh's Oxybuyer etc.

Along with a couple of appearances on Leno every month of course.

42. great news
I hate the opportunistic moron. I'll never forget that he sold his soul,
introducing Bush at Republican fundraisers, while we stood outside with our anti-war signs.

(Sorry, he just really bugs me because I used to like him.)

44. Yay!
As I've posted before, Miller was on The Tonight Show and criticized war journalists for interfering with the U.S. military in Iraq or Afghanistan (I forget which) so they could have something to talk about at cocktail parties. A record number of journalists have been killed in Iraq and around the world. He said this while IN HOLLYWOOD.
What an ass. He can burn in hell for all I care.

I hope Barry Crimmins left him a good message on his machine. It'll be the best bit to come across his desk in years.

51. And in other news stories tonite - CNN wipes shows off schedule
CNN's debate show "Crossfire," which has called GW home for three years, will go off the air this summer, according to a CNN internal memo obtained by The Hatchet.

The undated memo, written by CNN President Jonathan Klein, said the network will replace the last hour of "Live From," as well as the entirety of "Inside Politics," "Crossfire" and "Wolf Blitzer Reports," with a three-hour block of programming from 3 to 6 p.m. The change will take place some time this summer. It is unknown if the three-hour show will broadcast from "Crossfire's" current home, the Jack Morton Auditorium in the School of Media and Public Affairs.

continued at: http://www.gwhatchet.com/media/paper332/news/2005/05/05/CampusNews/Web-Update.Cnn.Chief.crossfire.To.End.This.Summer-950953.shtml

Rumor over dKos by diarist says: "I read elsewhere this new three hour show will be hosted by Wolf Blitzer."

I can't say this is terrible news for me one way or the other, since I've never watched any of them, but thought you might like to know anyway, if you hadn't already heard.
