It was a reference to *'s brave act of defending our country by flying to Omaha and scurrying down a bunnyhole.

He was originally dubbed Crusader Bunnypants by some DU wag who later got a visit from the SS wanting to know what he meant by the term.

I think some other long time posters would agree that this is the original reference.
