Mind you, I'm not planning to leave anytime soon, but I can see a time in the near future when I might need to get away for a little while.

Would anyone even remember me when I came back?

I come and go with some frequency since I like to travel and can't get online most of the time when traveling internationally. I don't think you need to announce your comings and goings. I just slip away quietly and come back when I have time. People will remember you just fine but if you announce before you leave, if you had a stalker or someone staking out your house, they might know you were going somewhere. So I get all paranoid and don't say anything until I come back.
