Disney animation polls: the results are in!
Edited on Wed May-11-05 02:14 PM by Seabiscuit
I put up two polls yesterday about Disney animation: the first covered the period 1937-1959.

The second covered the period 1961-present.

Here are the results:

In the first poll, with 34 votes, Fantasia was the clear winner with 13 votes. Dumbo, Bambi, and Alice in Wonderland came in tied as distant seconds with 4 votes each. The "princess" animations, Snow White, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty were third with 2 votes each. Garnering 1 vote were Pinocchio, Peter Pan and Lady and the Tramp.

The only shocker to me was that Peter Pan picked up its lone vote just this morning. Perhaps the original Peter Pan animation has lost some of its luster due to the sequel, "Return to Neverland" (2002) one musical and numerous movies modeled after it: "Peter Pan" (1960), "Hook" (1991), "Peter Pan" (1999), "Peter Pan" (2003), and "Finding Neverland" (2004).

In the second poll, out of 10 votes, The Lion King was the clear winner with 5 votes, followed by a five-way tie for second, with one vote each: One Hundred and One Dalmations, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and Mulan. No one voted for Pocahontas, Tarzan, Fantasia 2000, or Atlantis, the Lost Empire.

It appears the earlier animations are still the favorites although The Lion King would have come in second to Fantasia overall if there was room to combine both polls.
