Most hysterically funny movie ever EVER.
My vote goes to "Without A Paddle". When you can end up with three men running through the woods at night in their underpants during a rainstorm (and the reason makes sense), you have a winner. When I first watched this one I laughed until my sides ached. I have never had such a prolonged moment of zen FUNNY before or since. Even Burt Reynolds managed to bring back a bit of that old time humor he used to have.

Can YOU beat it with a better one?

23. There's a similar movie that I thought was even better than SpinalTap
It was "Niggas With Hats: NWH" (get it? "Niggas With Attitude:NWA"?)

Anyhow, it was also a "documentary" of this up and coming, or rather Up and screwing up Gangsta Rap group. Sooooo FUNNNNY! I thought it was much better than ST, believe it or not.

Another I really cracked up at was "Robin Hood: Men In Tights"

I know there are some more that I hurt myself laughing at but darn, can't remember now.

45. YES! Forgot that part of the name.
Is that the BEST ever or what.? (OK, with consideration to Blazing Saddles)

I once recommended it to a guy in the store looking for something that would be good for the family. I enthusiastically assured him Fear of a Black Hat was perfect and perfectly innocent.

OOOOOOPS. I realized later I was thinking of something else.

I've had guilt over that for years.

Edited on Wed May-11-05 12:14 AM by Prisoner_Number_Six
My brother and I snuck off one day to watch a movie- any movie- and Porky's was on, so we went in and had a great time watching it. He and I did that sort of things all our lives- even when I was a young boy he'd take me with him to the wrestling match. (He was several years older than me.) Our time together as brothers was very special.

About a year after Porky's, my brother passed away. It was not unexpected, but it was still a low point for me. The memory of us going out to the flicks really stands out for me, and for reasons even I don't know, Porky's stands out the most. Probably because it was just so freakin' hilarious.

25. All of the above that I have seen are wonderful - I will add Galaxy Quest
Wonderful satire on Star Trek, great writing, never gets old.

Haven't seen Without A Paddle - will have to check it out.

Weird Al Yankovich's UHF is silly but had some great moments - my fave was the "Conan the Librarian" skit but everyone seems to have their own favorite scene.

I know there are some other wonderful ones, but can't think of them right now.

Of the Mel Brooks movies, I'd have to go for Young Frankenstein. So funny, and when my brother and I got home from seeing it, our mother spontaneously broke into the song "Oh sweet mystery of life, at last I've found you," which we never heard her do before or ever again. She had not seen the movie and we have never been able to explain the coincidence. We laughed helplessly but couldn't explain it to her rationally - our attempts sent us into more gales of laughter until we just gave up trying.

"Dill Scallion:" a sort of country-music version of "Spinal Tap." Henry Winkler is in it.

"And God Spoke:" hilarious low-budget mockumentary about two dopes trying to film the entire Bible. Skewers all Hollywood types, from cinematographers to caterers.

And how about this cast? Soupy Sales as Moses. Lou Ferrigno as Cain. Eve Plumb (Jan Brady) as Mrs. Noah. And a bearded, tattooed redneck as God.

"How many disciples did Jesus have? Was it 8 or 10?"

FILM REVIEW; Moses Is Soupy Sales But God Is an Unknown
By CARYN JAMES
Published: September 23, 1994, Friday

If you were making a biblical epic, whom would you get to play God? Clive and Marvin, the director and producer in the mock documentary ". . . and God Spoke," go for Marlon Brando and Bobby De Niro, as they call him. But the high point of their careers is a film called "Nude Ninjas," their budget is not epic, and they settle for an unknown. "You wouldn't recognize God," Marvin says. It's perfect casting.

They're luckier with Moses; there they get a name. It's Soupy Sales, good-naturedly playing himself here. When he comes down the mountain with the Ten Commandments, he brings product placement to new extremes, but he's a recognizable star.

It's also easy to recognize the main inspiration for this film, one of many attempts to clone Rob Reiner's hilarious "This Is Spinal Tap." But it's hard to sustain satire as well as Mr. Reiner did. ". . . and God Spoke," which opens today at Sony Theaters 19th Street East, has several funny episodes as it follows the film makers, who inadvertently turn the Bible into a potboiler, but there are also many lulls and sections that are not nearly as sharp as they need to be.

The director of ". . . and God Spoke," Arthur Borman, obviously knows his targets. Michael Riley is especially funny as Clive, the perfect image of a hack director with artistic pretensions. He has the goatee and wire-rim glasses to prove that he's serious. And the film's best scenes approach the demented irreverence this material calls for. Clive and Marvin cast Lou Ferrigno as Cain and a slightly built unknown (played by Andy Dick) as Abel. Unfortunately, Abel doesn't know he's the victim, not the murderer. "Take thy best shot," he says, swinging at the man who played the Incredible Hulk. Eve Plumb, Jan from "The Brady Bunch," is cast as Mrs. Noah.

(snip)
