FROGS!!! Frogs juming on frogs, snakes (!) and anything else that swims by
I've lived here for 13 years and have never, ever seen anything like it. I have a quarter acre pond (totally natural) full of koi, goldfish (thousands and thousands - the breed freely), water lilies, lotus, Sarracenia (carniverous pitcher plants), Sundews, bog orchids, really, you name it. It's a biological wonderland. But I've never seen frogs going totally insane like they are today. Hundreds of them all looking to breed. The overflow drain pipe had lost it's screen - I had to rescue 28 frogs - by the handfulls. Most bizarre thing I've ever seen. The eggs and tadpoles should be another event in itself.

1. That's interesting. They're coming to get * to get even for
being blown up down there in Texas when George couldn't think of anything better to do.

Or it's a plague.

Bush is the anti-christ.

2. I once lived near this place where there were two marshy areas
Or ponds or something on either side of the road. One spring, there were so many frogs crossing the road that their little squashed carcasses created a hazard, it was so slippery. It was insane - I had to find another route home because I couldn't bear running over the poor things but there were no gaps or pauses in their frantic migration.

3. You might want to monitor
the ammonia and nitrite levels of your pond if you do so. I mean, yeah, that's a big pond so maybe you're OK. I have a small pond, about 1200 gallons, and I had a frog problem last year. A couple of very wet days and they bred like crazy and then we had a couple of hot days and the ammonia levels went up and killed all the goldfish and a koi.

4. Oh, wow!
I work for a nursery (though I'm currently disabled thanks to an accident) and there's a huge pond section. I deal in plants, so I rarely get into ammonia levels and such. BUT - I've got plenty of people to ask, thank Shiva (or whomever).

Thanks for the advice, really. It's something I'll look into. My pond is waaaay over my head at the deep end, so I'm not sure if it's a problem or not.

5. I would say your pond is so big, it is probably not
a problem, but it wouldn't hurt to get a little test kit for ammonia and nitrite and keep an eye on your levels for a few days. You don't want a big fish kill in your pond! That would suck.
