JP2's baseball card for sale

A card featuring the late pope's autograph is the hit of the baseball card world right now.

Topps put out the one-of-a-kind card earlier this year. A California collector bucked huge odds by finding it in a pack about two weeks before John Paul died. He traded it to a collectible store manager -- who wants to know how much it's worth.

The man tried to sell the card on eBay. The first auction closed at $8,100, but the sale fell through. There were no takers during his second auction, and his final try ends next Sunday. He figures the card is getting less valuable with each passing day.

The novelty card is part of a trend among card makers to draw more attention to the industry. Topps has made everything from cards inserted with pieces of bats and jerseys to ones featuring presidential autographs.
