5. It's a measurement of computer storage,

whether it's Random Access Memory (RAM) or disc storage, like hard drives, backup tapes, CD ROMs. Someone else will be better able to explain the math.

edit to add that a megabyte is 1024 kilobytes, 4 x 512 kilobytes.

10. You got it, petronius! I was ALWAYS lousy at math....
I was so grateful when calculators came along in the early 1970's and saved me from arithmetic...

Where in CA are you located? I'm in SoCal, LA area...

1024 bytes = 1 kilobyte.
1024 kilobytes = 1 megabyte.
